I'm Not Sure If I Should Be Nervous Or Excited.

Two years ago I injured my knee playing basketball. When I injured it during the game I knew something was wrong. It was a feeling I had never experienced before. I didn't go to the Doctor's right away, which in retrospect I should have, but instead I began a routine of self treatment with Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation or RICE.

A few weeks later my knee was feeling better, but was not feeling normal. However, I decided that it felt well enough to get back out on the court and help my team. This was another mistake, and I ultimately ended up hurting myself again during the game and now was really down for the count.

I still didn't go to the Doctor, since my insurance company decided I needed 12-13 weeks of physical therapy before they would approve an MRI to be done. I said the hell with them and again took to my self help routine. I began the RICE treatment that had helped before.

Eventually my knee started to feel better and the swelling went down. I was able to walk without a noticeable limp, and I could bend down almost all the way again. I started back up in the gym my knee felt so much better. I even hit a personal record for my barbell squat.

However, this past summer I needed to take some time off from the gym due to a minor in and out surgery. I stopped working out for about 30 days and in that period of time my knee began to ache and swell. It actually got to the point where bending down felt like my knee cap would shoot out. I knew it was time to see a Doctor.

So thankfully this time around almost two years later my primary care doctor was able to work around the demands of the insurance company and get me an MRI. The MRI showed a bad ACL tear and Meniscus tear. The surgeon's recommendation was surgery. I am 35 so living with a knee that makes me unable to enjoy even something as simple as walking clearly is not a good quality of life.

So I made the choice to have surgery on my knee and today is the day. As I am writing this I have about two hours before I will walking into Pre Op. I am a bit torn (pardon the pun) and here is where my title for this blog will make sense.

People have been asking me if I am nervous, and honestly I am not. I actually feel more excited about this than anything. One, I cannot wait to have it over with so I can begin my recovery to a healthy knee and lifestyle again. Second, I have 2 full weeks to be at home recovering. This is what I am excited about!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the work I do and hate that I will be missing my customers and opportunity to help them while I am out. However, this is going to give me 2 full weeks to spend countless hours banging away at building out my first website, newtosales.org.

I cannot wait to see how much I can accomplish in weeks. I haven't had the opportunity to just sit and focus on my site since I am a successful full time sales pro, and have many other things to balance as we all do.

The next 2 weeks I hope will produce the best content I've created yet, and allow me to really build out and realize the vision I have for my site. So, I would say that I am more excited than nervous, for sure.

Now, if you're reading this I would ask one thing of you if you can. If you could say a prayer that the surgeon does good work, and that my recovery is successful I would be grateful. I have a great surgeon and team that are going to be doing this for me today so I am confident in the outcome. But prayers are always helpful! : )

So, the next 2 weeks will be challenging in regards to recovery, I know that. However, I am excited for the time I have to work on my dreams. I appreciate those of you in this community that have been helpful to me so far, and I look forward to what lies ahead for me here at WA.

Ok, here we go....

Hi, Scott, I'm glad everything worked out for you. It just goes to show we need to look after ourselves. Hopefully, you can get back on the court soon. All the best.
Ann

Hey everyone, first of all thank you all. I appreciate the kind words. I am happy to report that surgery was a success and I am on the road to recovery. Excited to work on my site now! : ) Be Great!

Scott, I am just about to follow you so am not really informed on how you are doing.

But for my two cents worth, have you looked at aquarobics as part of your new get fit regime. I do this with a bunch of old timers (of which I am now one). Just about all of them joined in due to scheduled knee or hip replacements. They get as fit as possible before the operation and afterwards they recover remarkable fast. In fact most of their doctors comment on this.

Just a thought for you and you might not need it but it sure can be fun.

Thank you, great advice!

Hi Scott, best of luck. Irv.

Hi Scott,
Good luck with your surgery. I hope and pray that all goes well for you.

Hello Scott, all the best. Knee injuries are really painful. I found mine more painful than hips. Like you said you will have time to work on your website.

You're doing great with ten pages ranking in the top 100 already! Well done!!
