Writing to Foster Relationships

You know what means the most to me as I create content? I want you to get to know me a little bit and develop trust in what I have to say.

Let me draw a little on my faith background. As I read the Bible, (don't leave me yet, hang in there, I'm not going to wax religious on you here) anyway, as I read the Bible, one central theme comes forth. Do you know what it is? It's relationships.

Relationships, they are where everything in life revolves. In the Bible the relationships are between man and God, and man and his fellow man. In the midst of the Covid shutdowns and closures social shutdowns are assuredly the most costly of them all.

We have lost contact with others in the office, on the street, and in the marketplace.

• Suicides are up by anywhere from 15 to 65 percent among all age groups.
• Drug abuse has skyrocketed
• Alcoholism is through the roof.
• Many heads of their homes are feeling worthless
• Depression is at unprecedented levels.

Why Do I Blog Here?

When I write for the web, a part of me is reaching out to touch your heart and draw you in just a little into my speck of the world. As much as the web has made the world smaller, at the same time the social distancing has exponentially increased, and many are lonlier than ever before.

Part of my regular routine here at Wealthy Affiliate is blogging. Here's my goal each time I work on a lesson. I complete the lesson, write at least one article, write a blog post, and try to find one question I can answer.

Can you guess why II do these several things each time? Well, sure its for the learning process that is built into this platform. I do it also to participate in this community, and to develop relationships here.

One of the major successes of Wealthy Affiliate is the Community. Perhaps its the anchor for many in the current world climate. Maybe its one of the few things that helps you feel sane in an increasingly insane and crazy world.

Aside from the excercise of free writing and expressing emotionally the growth and learning I experience, I sincerely desire to help others. Free writing in this way helps to make my content less intellectual and more personal.

Writing content for my websites I want it to be personal. Corporations can sound like commercials and manuals, I want to connect with real people like you.

So, let's get write to the heart of the matter.

Write to the Heart

If we write honestly, openly, and sincerly, with a care for others like we care for ourselves, our writing will improve. No, really. People know when you are playing them. Maybe not the first time, but certainly as they get to know you through your content.

Look at Kyle and Carson as examples.

Kyle invites us to contact him directly, and promises to respond. Imagine, the owners of this amazing platform with its thousands of daily active members want to take the time to respond to you. He invites you to just drop a line and say "Hello", or ask a question.

You know, I tested it out on one of my first days here at Wealthy Affiliate. I wanted to see if it was a bot or real person. So I asked him, "What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?" Check it out.

Kyle and Carson are evidently very real, and very involved in their business on a personal level, You can feel the relationship building and personal care and interaction. Not only are they helping you build a business, they are helping you develop a network of relationships.

By the way, thank you Kyle for your response. It made my day to know you are a real person taking an actve part in your business.

What now?

In the 15 plus years I've been studying internet and online business, even though I have failed in much, one thing that has continued to increase is the awareness that people prefer to do business with people.

I hate phone bots, and not a fan of chat bots. Don't call me with your computer generated voice to tell me my car warranty or septic is in need of an upgrade. If I figure out that you are a real person, and you want to send your kids to college, or support your local businesses, or go on a date with your spouse, then I'll more than likely buy through your link, or your site.

I want to help others like myself succeed, and buying from real people makes me feel like I'm doing some good in the world.

It's my hope these passing thoughts encourage you to be real in your writing, and that your content would sound like a friend talking to a friend. I hope you find this article friendly in tone, and in content.
