10 Top Tips To Working At Home
Let's look at 10 top tips to working at home so you can avoid some of the pitfalls a home business can have.
#1 - Hang Onto Your Day Job (At least for a While)
If you have recently started an online business from home, hang onto your day job until you have your business generating a liveable, consistent income. Don't get all excited too soon and quit your job. You don't want to be under tremendous pressure to make your business work in an unrealistic timeframe.
#2 - Have Office Space
Set up an area of your home, if possible, as your exclusive office space where you can focus on your work. You need to be able to distance yourself from distractions that come with the territory of working from home. If you have a study or some space in the garage, this is perfect. Even basements make for great home offices.
#3 - Always Be Organised
In a regular job much of the organisation of the work place is taken care of by other people. When it's just you at home, you really need to discipline yourself to stay organised, focused and on top of things. Set up some timetables or schedules to get things done and do your best to stick to it. "To Do" list are great.
#4 - Discipline
This really goes hand in hand with organisation. If you are a disciplined person by nature, then you'll probably be okay working from home and getting things done. If not, then you will really need to train yourself to get into this very important habit. Remember, there's no boss riding you when you're at home. there's only you.
#5 - Flexibility Is Important
One of the greatest benefits of working from a home office is the capacity to be flexible. It allows you the freedom to get other tasks done throughout the day. Whilst always making sure you are disciplined and organised to do your work, enjoy the time freedom and flexibility. Don't make the scenario too rigid, or it kind of defeats the purpose of being able to work from home.
#6 - Avoid Distractions
You can see a common theme developing here when it comes to getting tasks done from a home office/business. Discipline again. There are so many distraction son the internet and around the home, that it's so easy to lose focus and start looking at other more interesting and shiny objects. Things like social media are a real time consuming activity. Allocate certain times of the day to look at things like these, AFTER you have taken care of the daily tasks.
#7 - Take Breaks
Some people fall into the trap of becoming workaholics when working from home on their own business. While it's great to be very productive, too much of the one thing is not good for us and will affect how well we work. We need balance. You're at home to both work and take advantage of not having to be at a day job all day. Take breaks. these are important. Get out for a walk, spend some time with your partner, the kids, your friends. Don't make it all about work.
#8 - If You Need To, Set Scheduled Work Hours
This one is more for people who are struggling to organise their time and get things done. Setting scheduled work hours will help instil more self-discipline. After a while you might be able to relax on that schedule a little as you become more adept at disciplining yourself.
#9 - Goals and Lists Are the Key
Have goals for your work and your business. Set both small, readily achievable goals and well as more far reaching goals. Always have a daily to do list and try and get everything done on that list each and every day.
#10 - Have Faith and Believe
Believe that you will have success and have faith in yourself and what you are doing. If you want success badly enough, you will find a way. Interacting with the great community here on a regular basis helps you to stay motivated and keep believing.

I stick to a to-do list. I have goals written down as well.
I need that list as I will remember something one second and in the next it's gone. LOL
#1 is Most Important "Hang On to Your Day Job". This is gong to take a while, don't fall into delusions of grandeur. Hard work and you need to be consistent.
Nice images by the way, where do you get them?
