i'm on google page 1, first position, for a keyword that has supposedly 1500 searches per month but am getting almost no traffic for it....any idea why?

I know a lot of time if you are logged into your gmail account, especially if it's one that is linked to your google plus account, then websites that you have shared on your google plus account rank much higher in the SERPs than if you are signed out.

no i always make sure i am "incognito" and not linked in

This is very strange, Shannon. I'm curious to find out why you're not getting any traffic as well. Jaaxy shows over 7000 searchs per month and 1300 if you achieve first page rankings, which you would assume being first you would be getting closer to 7000 visitors per month. I searched for "what about a bullfight" without quotations of course and your site came up. Only thing I can think of is that Jaaxy isn't giving you an accurate number (which scares me a ton) or because it is a weird uncommon phrase it just isn't generating your desired results.

I remember one of the live webinars I attended a few weeks back on low hanging fruit keywords, talking about making sure that your keywords make human sense. Example: Best Car Wash In Dallas, and NOT car wash dallas.

Best of luck I hope someone can give you an answer to help you out.

Hi guys, looks like I've hit page 1 again , position 2 with - how about a timeshare - and I've not put it in quotes. I guess my question is that the whole goal is supposed to be to get to page 1 which I have twice but still no traffic...Any ideas on this?

Do you know how long these articles have been on page 1? The reason I ask is because sometimes when I get a new article to page 1, it will only get 10 - 20 impressions the first month. Then, it will suddenly explode to thousands of impressions per month.

I can't see anyone searching: how about a timeshare
It doesn't make sense as a search phrase, something is missing.

(unless there is a show or something that uses that phrase)

Google keyword planner show no search volume, but you can't always trust that tool, just like you can't trust any tool.

Always try make sure it makes sense and it's a phrase you can see people searching.

One thing you can do if you're unsure about a keyword phrase is open up an incognito mode window. (it's important you incognito)

Start to type out your phrase, Google is going to give you the 4 most popular searches related to what you're typing.
As you can see from this screenshot http://take.ms/M8jO4
Most people are probably typing the other phrases because Google isn't even predicting what I'm typing.

well the timeshare article is only about a week old but the bullfight article is a little older.....I hope that is the case Steveo.

yes i have always been going incognito and the keyword tool says there are 1000's of searches

I'd be questioning the keyword tool.
Not sure if you're using Jaaxy, WA tool or another, but the WA tool says 379526 search per month, that is not right.

When I search "what about a bullfight" I see your site in the #1 and #2 position. What baffles me is that the keyword tools would show such high monthly search numbers. It just doesn't seem like a phrase that would be that popular. That is my opinion only of course.

well i've been relying on the keyword tool to be accurate

And I'm not saying you shouldn't. I know I do. I'm just baffled why you're not getting traffic.

yeah me too............

i'm starting to get some but not for those keywords.....weird...kind of defeats the purpose of what we're trying to do

I have the same thing. Some keywords bring traffic and some don't. That's why they encourage LOTS of content I imagine :)

When ever you search with quotes it will always come up first page.

i didn't put it in quotes and there are over 700,000 results

congratz on your number 1 placement

thanks but its not doing too much for me

It will soon

I have the same issue. How do you log "incognito"?

go to your settings at the top right of your page - and click on the dropdown - then click on "open new incognito window"

Hi Shannon. I couldn't find the drop down you referred too. Guess my brain isn't working too good this evening. What page are you referring too?

Hi Larry, to go incognito see the three-bar tab in the upper-right corner of your web browser. Click and you will see 'new incognito' or something similar.
Another option should be Keyword Tool at WA.
Jovo

Thanks Jovo

Are you really on page 1 or just when you look at it? ( i.e. when you look at your site and you're logged into Google )

no i'm "incognito".......check it out "what about a bullfight".....so what's the point of position 1 if i'm not getting any traffic, Ian?

Problem is that "what about a bullfight" isn't something that people type. There are only seven results for that exact match phrase in quotes " " . and five of them are from you.

Try to think of any occasion ( or reason ) why someone would type that phrase when they are searching for information on bullfights in general or in just in Mexico. It's not a natural phrase to say or type.

And then, if they were interested specifically in bullfighting, would they look on a site about vacation homes to find the info?

I'd have any bullfighting keywords / phrases built into articles on attractions in tourist areas where people want to rent homes. Because you want visitors who are interested primarily in renting a home or taking a holiday in Mexico and then also searching for activities nearby.

i didn't put it in quotes - i did keyword research and there are 1500 searches per month - it is simply what about a bullfight so i still don't know why i'm not getting traffic on it - there are over 750,000 results - check again and you'll see

I had used a service to drive some traffic and now that that is done I have almost no traffic - around 5 views per day. I have almost 30 posts and some page 2 rankings....What

One question - from the "Traffic Service" you were using to bring traffic, did it produce any results for you whatsoever? It's unlikely to have added any value, so really, unless you can afford to do a very targeted, potentially expensive ppc campaign, organic rankings are the only way to go - content, content, content - keep it original, keep it relevant, and keep it engaging for the reader - yes it will take longer, but it will work, if you stick at it - good luck!

WA has many training videos. Somehow I received an email with a place called Udemy. It is terrific. There are many many free videos that are offered. I put social medial in search and got many. They break each subject down and I realized I need to fix my profiles on each site. Check it out.

Looks like you are covered

Stay away from purchased traffic. You're doing fine and traffic will build over time if you keep adding useful content.

Buying traffic will do you absolutely no good. actually it can do you more harm than good. You will show more traffic, but it will jump your bounce rate sky high. One place i have had the most success is Reddit. You want to make sure you only subscribe to subreddits in your own niche. You also will want to leave comments on other peoples posts, within reddit. These people want a discussion. If they see your posting a lot of links and not commenting that much, then they will think all you are doing is promoting youir own work, and your post on there might even get banned or deleted.

bobby - how does reddit work? Do i just do a search on reddit for mexico vacations?

Everyone will tell you that this just takes time.

I agree with the rest not to buy traffic. It will come, keep writing good content, and give it a little time.

Unless your site is several months old then it's not surprising there's not much real traffic. That takes time for the vast majority of people.

No point paying for junk traffic. It may well be real human visitors, but they have no interest in your site. It's good if you want to up your analytics stats but isn't going to do you any real good.

Hey Ian, my site is almost 3 months old at this point..shouldn't i have more traffic?

Hey .. personally I would stay away from paid services to drive traffic... for the most part they are not that good and cost you unnecessary money.

What is your URL ? I would like to take a look!!

With regards to the Keywords have they all been found according to the training - ie .. the low hanging fruit?

Have you checked the SEO on your pages?

Chris

vacationhomesinmexico.com is my url

Add more Keyword Rich Content to your Posts/Site. Use the Low Hanging Fruit technique :) SEO takes time and requires a little bit of patience. There are also other methodologies that will drive traffic to your site a little bit faster, you can definitely research them with google.

Why am i getting around 150-200 new users per day but almost no clicks? And yes, I have checked my google analytics - seem to be interested int he content but that's all

Have a look at your competitors. What is it about their sites that is more appealing, more attractive, more clickable?
I often check out other sites to compare with. What is your favourite site layout? How does your site compare? Is your taste not as popular as the layout on the more successful sites?
Another thing I noticed with your site is that there were 10 posts on the home page... Is this too much information? Are you giving the visitors too much in one hit, without exposing them to more links?
Another option would be to split your site and posts into groups, like accommodation, food, entertainment, site seeing, culture, etc, listing your posts under those groups and giving more exposure to your affiliate links.
These are just suggestions, and this is my way of brainstorming solutions to a problem, so I am not trying to tell you what to do, just showing how I would respond when problems arise.
I hope it gives you some starting point to finding a solution.
There is nothing wrong with your site. The content and articles are all good. I think you just may need to look at a different approach or layout or structure... Give it a good shake and see how the pieces fall

A common problem. You can have interesting articles that people will read, without clicking on any links. Name of the game. Persistence is what counts here.

are you posting new content to keep bringing them back until they are ready to buy - that's my take on the customer purchase lifecycle...

yes posting 4 times per week

no i have minimized my adsense content - no money in that....so I just have affiliate links and AM calling to action - things like "click here" - maybe my subject matter is not interesting - it is mexico vacations?

I think that would definitely help. And Mexico vacations is actually quite an interesting topic.

If you are talking about adsense clicks, generally they have a lower conversion rate. People know what they are. Ads. So they usually just avoid them

I would make sure that you are catching people in the right buying cycle stage. If you're providing great information then maybe you might want to implement a few more calls to action on your posts. You are the authority on whatever your subject is. They are coming to you for information. Utilize that.

Probably because people are just gliding through your site and not paying attention to the actual content. Also I read that some people are getting traffic from Russia which is actually a means of spam that is robotically generated. Hope this helps if it pertains to your situation.
