Use blogging to overcome fear ofโฆ
Fill in the ____________

Hi EVERYBODY!!! It is 5:45 am on my side of the world and i am ready to bloggg!
Summary: This blog is about overcoming my fear of people, and shyness through blogging.
(12 mins)
I have noticed that blogging has helped me overcome fear of opinions, people, and failure. WA has been the perfect place for me to engage with people that I do not know and yet I have several social media pages and only one of those social pages I can bring myself to talk to strangers on (LinkedIn).
I have wondered why that is? How is it that I can find myself speaking perfectly fine with people here on Wealthy Affiliate but not on other social platforms? Or in person for that much. Now this is not to say that I do not comment here or there expressing my opinion on a subject matter on platforms like Twitter (X), Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
But Wealthy Affiliate has really brought out the sociable side of me. This is due to the community here who wants to see their fellow Waโers succeed at their craft. I guess in a sense I have found my tribe. I like being around helping hands ๐๐พ. Having a community that will help you in the development stages of your business is gold!
What are the benefits of having a supportive community?
- You wonโt feel alone
- Sense of belonging
- Professional Accountability
- Motivation
- Professional growth
- Shared knowledge (depending on the type of community)
Loneliness: Is one of the number 1# reasons why people who pursue their business dreams or/and goals give up. They feel alone and have no one to turn to for advice and simple assistance. This is one of the reasons why I like Wealthy Affiliate because of the feedback I get to my questions from seasoned marketers and those who have built their brand and business.
Sense of belonging: kinda ties back to loneliness. Because those of us who do feel alone will always look for someplace to belong. I know I did and I am a natural loner. Well, that is slowly changing. I am breaking out of that shell now that I have gotten around people who have common interest as I do, even though most of us are on opposite sides of the world. To be a part of a community is more than just being a part of a community. It is also about giving back, like the free comments we give to each other's website that can be healthy constructive feedback or praise. This helps us become better at our craft and know what it is that our customers want.
Professional Accountability: You will be held to certain standards that reflect the values of the community that you are a part of. This will help you keep yourself accountable in a professional and personal manner. Here at WA, we have our house rules that keep each of us accountable for our actions. You can find them on Kyle's (owner) profile page.
Of all the rules that are listed here there are three that stand out the most for me: No politics (16), No religion (14), no nudes (12) post. Basically, keep the platform neutral, non-polarizing and SFW (Safe for Work). Respect everyone and their beliefs that may differ from your own.

Motivation

Having a community behind you that encourages you to be the best at what you are capable of doing and gives you informative and positive motivation can steer you in the right direction. It can change your whole mood for the better. We need HYPE men in our corners to cheer us on and to give us that burst of energy which will keep us going. I would like to hear someone say every once in a while: WOOOOOOO!!!! Kidaaa you're doing great! Keep up the good work!
Now not everyone needs this kind of โexpression for motivationโ but Iโll take all positive vibes ๐ I can get. The other kind of motivation is inspirational. My late aunt Dawn was one of several women I looked up to. She was the one that told me to read everything before you agree to anything. I doubt if many would believe that I read several hundred pages of Google in one day just out of curiosity ๐คฃ (Donโt ask what I read because I donโt remember).

Dawn was paralegal and a librarian, she was the absolute best. If I needed to know something or if I had a question that required a legal expert's eyes Dawn was the one to go to. She was a part of my personal community. She was like a mom to me. The pillars of wisdom that Dawn instilled into my young life, I carry with me to this very day. She motivated me to read and go to college to become a lawyer then. Presently, that has changed. I graduated with my associates in digital marketing on May. 9, 2025 and soon Business Administration in spring of 2026.
Having a community that motivates you to be the best version of yourself is like finding gold that you cannot place a monetary value on. Find a community that supports you and your vision for your future self. For me that community is Wealthy Affiliate.
Professional /Personal Growth

Next, this community has helped me in my professional growth. Every day I run into someone new with a different way of thinking or who can pop jokes off the top of his head @EricCantu (I'm talking to you!) and turn them into a eye catching headline for an article ๐๐๐. These are the kinds of people I choose to surround myself with.
The next step up for me in my professional growth is creating my first video showing my face. One day ๐
. Ima get round to it. Till then you guys will just have to settle for my southern bell voice (USA expression). I will be in the background talking with pictures and video.
Iโm also implementing the knowledge that I have learned here and abroad and developing my own ideas using the very class I hated the most in school, math! Everything reads like math to me. Itโs all equation, percentages and numbers. Yet, it has increased my attention awareness. I am more detailed now then I have ever been. Hereโs a personal story, I was push off of a jungle gym at my elementary school playground at six years old, by another six year old.
I fell head first on a rock. Which somehow caused my vessels in my right eye retina to be busted and damage beyond repair.
What does this have to do with personal growth?
This injury caused my brain to read weird. I write certain wordโs backwards, say them backwards and see them backwards. I even count money backwards (As in, 100, 80, 60, etc, โA LOTโ). When I catch myself doing this, I start over and count forward. Same with my words. I go over my words before I send them through text, or read over words written to make sure I do not have backwards spelled words.
- This
- The
- Is
- It
- To
- Misspell
- a part
- Or
- My
- Go
- That
- If
- Of
- Start
- And
- Have
- In
- In spite( I put these two together and almost did just now spelling them out)
- Too
- Almost
- Always
- Has
- Self
- Are
Now ask me how long did it take just to write about these words in just โthis section?โ
Something along the time frame of an hour and thirty minus. Brain just jumping all over the place๐.
Yes, I can find humor in my disability. Also, if you notice this part of my article is written differently than the others.
These short little words bothers me daily. I feel like they be picking at my brain and it is being bullied ๐๐๐.
Even when I am watchful of my spelling and type/write slow, I do not always catch my error until I read over my work slowly because my brain tells me it is spell correctly the first time and I visually see it this way too. Having this disability is aggravating to say the least.
I hate that I am half blind, I hate that I have some form of dyslexia, that I was not born with. It literally affects my life and makes me appear as if I have a literacy problem.
However, in spite of this I overcame these issues by accepting that they are just a part of my life and to correct the words when I see the error and stop myself when I start counting backwards abnormally.
I manage to make โEnglishโ my favorite subject and push forward still. The picture below shows one of these words that I often misspell.
I tell you โthisโ irritates me!โ๐พ But I can laugh at it. Ha! Ha! ๐
Shared Knowledge

Shared Knowledge is the pinnacle of the Wealth Affiliate platform. I have learned more here from the different people that I engage with daily than I have any where else.
I had an epiphany yesterday night (Jul. 5, 2025) and decided to put aside all excuses of why I could not do this or that. For the first time, I just said no to โNoโ- I canโt do this. Iโm too tired, or whatever other excuse I used. I am done with excuses. WA is like a mini entrepreneurial version of Google.
You have a little of everything here just from the educated side. You have teachers here, mathematicians, English professionals, programmers (who does not work for wa), Engineers, Business Administrators, nurses and all different kinds of people from different backgrounds who have searched for a better way to share their expertise and make an income from it.
I find this fascinating! Now this is not to discourage those who are just starting out and do not have all of the educational background such as these listed here but it is to encourage because if you have questions about a subject or matter, someone has the answer or can direct you on how to obtain it.
That is the beautiful thing about this community. I cannot tell, you all enough thank you! ๐ For helping bring a shy woman out of her shell.

Thanks for this, Shakida.
Sorry for your accident and condition, but you are not letting it limit you.
YOU GO GIRL!
JD
You are very welcome, and I try not to let it limit me. I am also partially blind because of this accident. Scarring across my retina. I can't see a thing in my right eye. Except colors and blob human or item shapes. So, I depend heavily on my left eye and use my right eye to spot odd shadows behind me. Ill know when someone sneaking up on me even if I cant see them out of this blind eye.
I literally read this normally as if it was correctly spelled. ๐คฃ Then you pointed it out!
I think youโre being hard on yourself. Iโve never once noticed any errors in chat ๐๐ผ
Thanks for sharing Shakida!
Often times our "disability" can become one of our greatest strengths.
You're doing great! Keep moving forward! Never give up!
Mel
Thank you Mel! You and Eric Cantu are an inspiration to me. Now, I just got to get over camera shyness, Iโm working on it. ๐
You are most welcome Shakida.
Its up to you if you even want to be seen. I often share my screen and talk along without showing myself.
You could also clone yourself and look as you once did. Again that's up to you.
I will PM you now also.
Mel

This is awesome, I used Journaling to get back into writing and overcoming fear of writing and writers block. I like journaling now.
You Rock.
Thanks Cali!! Me and journaling goes waaaaay back to when i first learned how to write. Now i use journaling for notes, spontaneous ideas and to help me get over hardships (grief). It's therapeutic to me.
