Interested to know why a website can still make you money when there is lots of social media out there doing similar things

Yes it is.. just need to keep it up ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks Justine ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Hey Sean,

There's a couple of main reasons:

1) - Not everyone enjoys taking on content in exactly the same way.

I myself have ALWAYS loved reading.

You give me a 10,000-word article on a subject I'm interested in, and I'll read it from start to finish.

You give me a 30-minute YouTube video to watch on exactly the same subject, and I guarantee I will have paused it at least 5 times, gone and had something to eat, searched for something else on Google, etc.

NOT EVERY HUMAN BEING enjoys or takes on information in the same way.

----------------------------------------------------

If you want me to be completely honest, MOST (I didn't say all) generation Z individuals (and I include my OWN children in this, just to show I'm NOT being cruel) are ADDICTS.

They have become used to wanting something straight away and then social media GIVING IT TO THEM.

They are almost incapable of READING something for longer than 1 minute and are constantly scrolling, checking, looking for INSTANT GRATIFICATION.

How many times has an inidividual added a post to social media and then checked their phone 15 times in the next hour to see how many "likes" or "comments" they received (the same happens here at Wealthy Affiliate)?

Ask anyone from previous generations whether it's "normal" to check your phone 15 times in a hour just to see if someone "likes" or "loves" you, and they'll all tell you NO (and yet many of the older generations have now been dragged into this way of "being")...

This is pure, unadulterated Instant Gratification ADDICTION.

NOT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD HAS THIS (but it is getting worse with each passing year).

However, can I put EVERY SINGLE Generation Z inidivual into this category?

Hell No!!

This depends on the INDIVIDUAL, but it's safe to say that probably at least 70% of Gen Z's have this "addiction" (and probably about 50% of the remainder of the population).

In other words, 3-4 BILLION people on this earth are willing to out some effort in without being pulled away by "instant gratification".

Now, I don't know about you, but 3-4 BILLION people is more than enough for me to market to.

--------------------------------------------------------

2) People's INTENTION behind making a search...

Simply put:

If people want to buy something, want more information about something, probably about 90% of the time people go to GOOGLE.

If people want to be ENTERTAINED they go to social media.

How many people honestly think the following, "I need some more information about the best lawnmower and then I'll buy a lawnmower. I know what i'll do, I'll go to YouTube and Facebook to find this information"?

This pretty much NEVER happens.

Most people will go directly to Google and do a search (and Google will provide the "best results" based on the search term), or someone may go directly to a website where they know they'll find this information, e.g. Amazon

This is WHY "organic Google traffic" is typically seen as the best type of traffic, people are already much closer to being in "buying mode".

Sure, there are YouTube millionaires, we even have a few here on the platform, but realistically what ALL social media "influencers" and "marketers" are doing is trying to build a loyal following. They're NOT actually trying to "sell directly" from their videos (the one's who are trying to sell directly probably aren't as successful as those trying to build a following - simple economics - you have 10,000 who absolutely love you and hang off your every word, you're gonna make a lot more money than someone who continues to pump out random videos, but doesn't really interact with people - HUMAN BEINGS = we love interaction with other humans... even the grumpy ones do, LOL).

They want them to subscribe to their channel (so they receive notifications of new posts, videos), they want them to subscribe to their email newletters, so they now have their email address and can personally market to them on a daily basis.

Basically, there is NO "One correct way to make money online"...

I'm not even exaggerating when I say that there are well over 1,000,000 DIFFERENT ways to make money online.

Many don't even require a website.

Many don't even require YouTube.

Many don't require any Social Media.

Making Money Online is definitely NOT a "one-size-fits-all".

Going back to my first point, we all "get our kicks" in different ways.

Your aim as an online marketer is realistically to pick ONE or TWO forms of marketing that RESONATE WITH YOU MOST, and then put your heart and soul into those WITHOUT allowing yourself to get distracted.

Finally, if you look at the fact that the top 100 websites in the world all receive more than 100,000,000 visitors PER MONTH, I think it's safe to say that websites and blogging are here to stay.

Thanks Partha. Thatโ€™s a really well thought out and informative response to my question ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The idea Sean is to choose a niche. You start out by publishing pages on your website. Once you get enough traffic then you monetize. The way you can compete with the other sites already out there is that you will be searching for keywords that have relatively less competition with the other sites so that when a person searches those keywords your website will more likely appear high up in the search. Itโ€™s all in the training. Wishing you much success!

Thanks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I forgot to mention that those keywords you search for you will end up putting in your articles that you post so that the search engines pick them up. It is all in the search engine optimization training

You can. However, it is better with a blog website as it is the backbone of your business.

Social media platforms could go bust anytime, not that they would, but they could. And if that happens, your business and all the hard work you put in will also go down the drain.

However, with a website, you own your piece on the world wide web. You could always utilize the following social media platform.

I hope this makes sense?

Thanks Abie. So essentially building a strong foundation for longevity in your business. Makes sense ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Totally and you're welcome :)

Let us know if you need additional assistance. All the best to you on your online journey and business endeavors.

I believe yes and I believe it explains this in the training.

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚
