How do you treat your referrals?

Interacting with your referrals

As I've been seeing all the new members (both starter and Premium) and I've been following them so I might help if they need it and that got me to wondering. I have been wondering just how the members here interact with those who have signed up through them as their referrals.

I know we have the automatic messages for welcome and upgrade, etc. that our referrals get, but after that, I'm curious how Members are interacting with their own referrals. It looks like some people will have 100's of them (AWESOME!). So, what kind of time do you spend with your referrals and how involved are you in their journey and progress? Just what help do you usually offer/give them? Do they contact you a lot for help?

I know I rarely contact Steve who referred me, even though he has offered his help before.

Are new members counting on those who signed them up for help?

Anyway, I was wondering and figured other people are probably wondering this also. I would love to hear back from those of you who have signed up members, especially Premium members. - Shirley

Just got my first ones and am learning what to do so thanks for this.

Yes, this is worthy of our attention. I have so far only had one referral and will check back to see how they are doing as others have done for me. Thanks for raising our awareness about this aspect of support here at W.A.

My thoughts are that new referrals should be treated in similar way to new friends, or maybe someone new to an employment position.

When I joined WA I received a welcome message from the person who I joined through, but I never heard from that person again in respect to my WA membership. In other words, I never personally heard from her although I see her activity regularly online.

Although I was not new to affiliate marketing I felt extremely overwhelmed as a new WA member. I was constantly receiving welcome messages from complete strangers.

I believe that I would have felt much less overwhelmed if I had received a message of encouragement from my referrer during the first month or two.

My new referrals receive messages from me offering support, but I don't overdo it. I think we need to keep in touch, but there's no particular rule.

Great advice!

Thank you Kate.

What kind of message and from who or where does one get when a referral walks in to WA? Thanks !

Joe

Hey Joe,
You will get email notifications anytime one of your referrals does something including joining free and going premium
I really like the ones that say: You have just earned another WA commission!!!" :P

Aha ! : ) Thanks for that feedback Shawn ! Just followed you !

Joe

Each of us set up our own standard messages for our referrals.

You are notified if a referral signs up from one of your links. Your refferall will get one of the messages you set up when they join, setup their profile, upgrade to Premium, etc. Click on the $ sign and then on the message button and you can see when these messages are sent and how to set your own up.

In the 9 months I've been here I contacted my sponsor 3 times.

What for? I have members here whom I have gotten to know and they have been there for me.

If they leave, I'm sad to say they're making a big mistake, imho!

I have yet to make a sale but I am so dang confident I will get there and more!

This place offers an opportunity like no other. It is so sad some will miss it.

Hi Shirley, I have only every had one referral who went premium and then the day after she wanted her money back. I left her lots of messages asking for her to let me know she was ok and if she needed any help and she never replied then she eventually cancelled her membership and I received a nasty message saying I hadn't replied to her email.

I have no idea what email she meant and still don't. I do have four referrals who haven't gone premium and only one who has completed his profile.

I do try and leave them a note once a month but not sure if they can see them because the are only on the Free Starter membership. Hopefully one day though they will go premium. xxxx

That's good to know. I guess it goes to show that it's good to be helpful but at the same time, be wise about how you expend your energy.

Thank you Kate and now following you here at WA. Xx

Great question--I'm wondering the same thing myself!

Hi Shirley. I don't have many referrals but I do try to stay in touch with them and always offer my help. Many of them contact me if they have a question and I will always try to help them or direct them to someone else if I don't know the answer.
I like to try to check in with people every so often too. Can't say I contact people every week but I do hopefully try to let my referrals know that I'm there for them if they need me.
I'm sure there is a lot more I could do and I do think it's important to look after your referrals in the best way you can with the time you have available.
Thank you for posting this. Have a great day.
Gail
