Not unless you want to. I use a few other paid additions--I have a premium theme (the free ones are fine but I like this particular one) and I do pay for Grammarly premium and Yoast premium, as well as a couple of others. However, just starting out, I would say just the WA monthly (or annual, if you prefer) is fine.
As Diane said, the domain will cost an annual fee.
Hi - at some point, you will need to purchase a .com domain name, as it looks more professional than the free website you are given here. If purchased here at WA, it will cost $13.99 per year.
Your first month of premium will be $19, followed by automatic, recurring payments of $49 per month. You can cancel at any time, but there are no refunds and you can't go back to being a free starter again. You would be locked out of this platform.

I've been here 5 years, and not paid for anything more than the premium membership.
Hosting, Keyword research tool and above all world class site support if I run into some tech issues (I'm not tech minded at all) and they can help me out a lot.
Not a penny more needed to spend, other than your domain name only US$10-US$15

Definitely having a laptop will help your business if you are deciding to live the laptop lifestyle
To write the articles it is better to have a laptop or desktop. For regular surfing, you can use the phone.
I use a phone 90% of the time but I always find that you need a PC or laptop for the other 10%. Jim
