Question about keywords

Hi guys! Just a quick question about keywords here:

Im researching about NFL Tailgating equipement, specifically folding chairs, so I will target each team folding chair, so far so good.

The thing is, that if I put "green bay packers folding chair" in WA KW Tool, I have one result, buy if i put "green bay packers folding chairs" I get another one! And the difference of traffic and competition is noticable!

My instinct tells me to target the KW with the less competition, but, if it is "green bay packers folding chairS" would I would be targetting also the KW with no "S"?

What do you think?

Thanks in advance!!!

Jay spent a month building out a website to sell football snack helmets. He took us every step of the way. Check his recordings. Everything he did applies to what you are trying to do.

A little update on the subject, that I think will clarify my doubts.
Lets use the example of "arizona cardinals folding chair". That is the keyword I'm targeting

The search volumes and competition are:
"arizona cardinals folding chair" searches 16, competition 23 (my site is in those 23)
"arizona cardinals folding chairs" searches 24, competition 8 (my site is NOT among those 8)

However, If I check the serps for those keywords, something really awesome happens, my site is ranked in position 10 for both of the kws!!!! (according to www.serplab.co.uk, which im using as long Im able to afford jaaxy)

So I think the mystery is solved, right?

are you still a bit baffled just remember each of the teams will have a variation on fan numbers so it will vary on the searches and analytics change so quickly do not get too hung up on it

Wow. Lol just found your site footballfoldingchairs.com. If you search with quote marks you are #5. Way to go. With out the quotes you're not on the first page, interesting.

Hi same as fyre said they are actually both similar results and with low competition so it wouldn't really matter.

Eventually you should expect to rank for any search for 'GreenBay Packers' or for 'folding chair' - that's why in google it looks like the competition is really high because there aren't many exact match products at the moment so everything gets thrown in. - Marie

From what I understand you're good either way. The Google algorithms are smart enough to know what people mean and what they are looking for.
Just focus on the SEO part and check the competition on the first page for both searches. They're essentially the same and pretty competitive. Amazon, http://nflshop.com, http://coleman.com, http://lowes.com, etc.. Good luck getting first page results. You might have success with Pinterest and social sharing but Google looks way too competitive.

Ok so I just did a quick look for fun. The keyword "NFL folding chairs" has an affiliate on the first page SERPS. A good possibility. I recommend going with a direct match domain name for something (sports/camping)foldingchairs.com. Then dedicate different pages to NFL, NCAA, camping, etc. it'll give you a greater edge with that keyword. Of course it's more specific than tailgating altogether.

hehe, actually my site is http://footballfoldingchairs.com :) I havent tackled college footbal. But that is due to a bad research of the niche. I didnt knew that there were no folding chairs for college footbal :(

Hmm I'm still trying to be a keyword ninja myself. I'm going to check it out now.
