Caution: Adding Affiliate Links to Content

I just wanted to put a word of caution out there to anyone who is adding affiliate links to content for the first time, when copying the link make sure that you are only copying from the http:// and not anything in front of it. If you use the Highlight HTML button, which is a pretty neat feature, you will get everything in the link. I learned first hand, the link won't work when you add it into your content. Here is an example of what I am talking about:

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/

Hope this helps.

I always put my links in on the "text" tab, and to be sure I know where I want it, I type 4 big XXXX on the "visual" tab, and place the link over the X's when I get to the "text" tab. If not it might be hard to find the right spot within all those html codes

You are right about it being hard to find the right spot. The X's are a great idea.

Thank you for the heads up:)

I always cloak my affiliate links.

To use a link cloacker - it goes without saying you would use the url! :)

A link cloacker... I will have to look into that. That's a new one for me. Thanks.

Hi Rhonda! -

Please take a look at the WordPress plug-in - Affiliate Link Cloaking version 1.3.2 - https://wordpress.org/plugins/affiliate-link-cloaking/

This is the link cloaker I have been using for a very long time! :)

Thank you for the heads up.

Do you mean when you're adding it in the "visual" tab? The Amazon full link works fine in the "text" tab. :)

I was adding in the visual tab, following the training.

I just looked at the training again and Kyle was on the Visual tab during the video training. The link that he copy and pasted started with the http:// and did not have the other code in front.

I don't remember that bit, always put mine in the text tab!
Thanks for the tip. :)
