I have had my website for about 2.5 months and just made my first (very small) commission. I have a decent amount of content and things are starting to really shape up. Wheneve
Honestly, it takes time and high quality content. Spelling and grammar do count, so if your content has either types of errors, you will be penalized in ranking. Google is looking for sites that are very readable and engaging - are your Facebook visitors leaving comments? That will help a great deal as well.
I am pretty sure that my spelling and grammar are good. I am getting comments through WA, but even though I get lots of visitors from Facebook, they never leave comments! At the end of each post I have a "call to action" to leave a comment, but nobody seems to do it! They comment on Facebook instead...telling me they loved my post etc. Any ideas on how to get people to comment on the actual post?
I'd put a CTA with your link from Facebook - something like 'Please leave your comment on my site rather than Facebook. Your comment there improves my chances of success.'

How do I improve rankings for posts?

Awesome to hear you made your first commission Salina! Love to hear the great news! As others have mentioned, it does take time, and as you produce more content, it will eventually start to rank. You'll find that your older content will improve in rank as well. If you see great success with Facebook, I'd continue to focus on it. There're free tools like Buffer that let you schedule Facebook posts, so that might be something to look in to.

I have searched and see that many people say it take about two weeks to get indexed on average. I have had my site going for almost three weeks. I purchased my own domain and
Hey Salina1!
Have you setup google webmaster, sitemap and analytics on your site?
The time it takes varies. What is your site domain url?
My URL is: bestpreschoolactivities.com
I don't think I have set up any of those things you mentioned as they haven't been mentioned in the training. I am currently on Course 3 and halfway through. Is there a link to how to set these things up somewhere? Thanks!
You probably haven't reached it in the training yet. It does go over it eventually but I can't remember off of the top of my head which course it is.
I would just wait until the training goes over it because it can be complicated to explain. You should be getting to it soon.
Don't worry about it not being indexed yet because it can take a while for google to notice your site because it still is new.
Keep up the good work :) I like your site too btw!
Marlinda
Thanks Marlinda! I guess as a plus, once google does index my site and people start finding me, I will have enough content that people will be more likely to keep coming back to my site.
