Here is another episode in my saga about Pinterest related to my website about my dog and dogs in general. This is the final episode.......at least for now.

If you want to re-cap on the story please read my previous blog posts about the topic

Pinterst came back to me yesterday with the following message, the last one of a series of appeals:

It is official, my website in the Pets niche is in violation of Pinterest´s Spam policy. My website is banned from Pinterest and any links to it on Pinterest is blocked.

Asking For Details

Pinterest has said in each feedback they have given me that the suspension is due to violation of their Spam policy. No other details. I have read their Spam policy, but I cannot find any reason in their policy which is applicable to my website at this moment.

When asking Pinterest for further details to why the suspension is put on my site, in order to correct what is considered as spam, if there are any, I am getting the same answer every time from Pinterest:

- It is due to violation of Pinterest Spam policy.

Further Steps - Looking Ahead

That is the end of story at the moment. No pinterest for the niche, but instead a new opportunity on my part to focus on other channels for the niche.

Nevertheless, if this happens to you, it is necessary to take actions and check your site for any sources that can result in a reaction from social media platforms. I haven´t got a lot of backlinks on my site. But I will do a thorough check to see if there are somehting that is generating unwanted activity or behaviour from my website.

I have checked with Google Search Console (GSC) and SEMRush to try to identify if backlinks coud be a problem. From the reports from GSC and SEMRush there should not be an problem with backlinks. So I am lost to what the problem, according to Pinterest with my website, might be .

Bottom line is to not waste more energy on Pinterest in relation to this "incident". On the other hand, the positive outcome of this is learning new tools and methods to check up on my websites health😊.

Why can't the people at Pinterest tell you exactly what their problem is? They aren't the only ones who do that sort of thing. Facebook is just as bad. Makes you wonder what they really want from you...maybe a pint of blood? It really angers me that we get treated so poorly by some companies. Not fair, not fair! Hope you find a suitable solution.

You are right, Fran. It makes me feel the same.

What I am doing now is reading and watching tutorials on Tailwind´s website on both Pinterest and Instagram.

Tailiwind is experts on these two platforms and are official partners as well. Their guides and blog has very good information and advice on how to use the platforms, what to do and not to do.

They are quick to respond to questions and I will ask which advice they have on this matter.

-Roy-

Good idea. Yes, I have Tailwind, too, and should do the same thing.

Hi! I didn't know the story but I know that sometimes social media can be very bothering - it happened the same to me with an old FB business account. I suggest you also Follow.it, it can be extremely useful also because it gives a very good backlink. Moreover, you can further check backlinks with Ahref or Ubersuggest to try to figure out what is going on! :)

Hi, thank you! I tried using Aref, but the tool to analyze what is going on was not for free.

But I will try Ubersuggest. SEM rush and GSC gave a good indication on what is going on with the site, and it was not anything "fishy" in the results from their analysis, as far as I could see.

Roy

Hi Roy
I should've thought of this before ... have you tried the Tailwind free membership? They are very clued up on Pinterest and may be able to guide you on how to understand what brought this banning about and also help you go live again. Just a thought.
Blessings
Louise

Good idea, Louise. I have a Tailwind + membership realted to my MMO site, so I will aks them if they have any suggestions. They respond quickly.

Thank you!😊

Hi Roy!

Sorry to hear about this unfortunate outcome. I used the occasion to familiarize myself with the Pinterest spam policy. The only point of relevance I could find was this:

“Don't link to websites that are unsafe, deceptive, untrustworthy, unoriginal, or that facilitate or encourage spam. Websites should have original content that adds unique value for Pinners.”

This is so broad that could capture almost anything.

My recommendation is to focus on your website and continue developing it instead of wasting your valuable time with Pinterest. Once they made up their minds, it become hopeless. You could pin to another site, but make sure you try to replicate sites that Pinterest loves. Just have a look at top Pins.

This is my 5 cents ...

Nellya

Your 5 cents is well received, Nellya 😃👍 The excerpt from their Spam policy is of course relevant, but I do not have any links of such kind. I have been careful when I have pinned to avoid any violation of their terms and conditions and their Spam policy and end in this situation.

Roy

What I meant is take a more holistic view of your site: the template, the look & feel, presentation of content. The best way to do it is by checking a few sites that popular Pins are linking to.

Nellya

I got it the first time, Nellya😄Thank you for making sure I got it👍🏼A good thing can´t be said enough times :-)

Pinterest had suspended my account because I posted an image twice by mistake. I knew that it was a mistake and tried various ways through my iPhone to delete one and could not.
I appealed them with my problem how their system is raw for iPhone not to respond a delete.
They accepted my appeal and reactivated the account.
You may be able to delete and restart with another one. But knowing their policy will help.

Hi, anusuya. Thank you for sharing your experience with being suspended form Pinterest. You have a good proposal:-)

The main problem as I see it is that they define my website, not my pins to be the problem. SInce I do not know what is the real problem and no tools I have used to check my website for spam related problems, have indicated a problem with my website I have very little to work on.

I have read their policy several times and cannot find anything that tells me where I have failed.

The next step would try to find a phone number to speak "face to face" with Pinterest, but so far I haven´t found any.

-Roy-

There is a robot to answer. I desperately tried talking to some one but had no success.
I went to help and completed some questionnaires. I posted my answer there.
Luckily they responded quickly.
My site was unlocked to operate.
I can very well imagine your frustration while there are no guidance to fix the problem if there is any which you have no idea of.
Let them spell out the problem.

Yes, you are spot on, Anusuya.

The two of the later responses were from employees at Pinterest. I filled out the questionnaire, and explained what had happened, but to no avail.
