Using Outlook with WA Email

I'm new to WA, but envision having multiple websites and domains. Along with that, having multiple email accounts for each domain I need to use regularly. Rather than using SiteEmail webmail and having to log-in and log-out of each one just to check mail, I started down the path of using Outlook 2016.

With Outlook 2016 I can add all of the email accounts I want to monitor, and it will keep all of them active and sending/receiving emails on an automated basis. Perfect solution!

One problem. I was able to receive emails, but I couldn't send emails. I did a search in WA for this Outlook problem but didn't find any solutions (I'm a noob to WA, so I might have missed it). So I contacted WA Tech Support, who by the way was super fast and got me pointed in the right direction. Just in case the solution wasn't already posted elsewhere, thought I'd share the answer with the community.

On SiteEmail, it said to use Port 25 for outbound email configuration. WA Tech Support said some ISP's block Port 25. It turns out they were right! I'm using Comcast as my ISP at the house, and they block Port 25. WA Tech Support suggested I try ports 63 or 465 or 587. Port 63 worked great! So if you configure Outlook, can receive emails but can't send them, try a port other than 25.

Hope this helps someone else from spending hours trying to get Outlook to work.

Thank you for this post. I switched the port form 25 and all is well.

All the best!

Row,

Massive help for me. I had a hard time finding this thread on the search bar but eventually I found it. I feel like this happens to a lot of people due to the massive customer base of comcast.

I switched my port to 63. Then when I sent my mail out, my outlook account popped up and had me re-authenticate the outgoing server password (I am using a mac). Once I typed the outgoing password provided by WA my mail was sending out!

So awesome thank you for the help.

Best of luck,

Row - hope you don't mind a few questions - just struggling at the same place you were right now - receiving mail but not sending on Outlook 2011. Tried the port 63, and 465. Were you setup for IMAP or POP? Did you setup the outgoing authentication with your username and password? Did you use SSL?

OK I found that 587 works without SSL. Finally found the right combination. Thanks for the comment. I know that 465 is secure used for SSL and I think 587 is not secure. I know 25 is not secure.

Thanks for sharing this valuable info, Row, best of luck with everything!
