So Are You There Yet? Are You Finally Free?
The reason many people join Wealthy Affiliate and other online business training platforms or buy courses is that they want Financial freedom. So are you there yet? Are you spending more time with your wife and kids/husband and kids/girlfriend/boyfriend?
Are you going on holiday when you want to? Or are you working longer hours than when you had 9 to 5? When do you finally reach that point when you can confidently say, I am finally free?
I like the part here at Wealthy Affiliate when you join, they ask you what your money goal is, and you give the first figure, and then they ask what amount of money will let you live the kind of life you want, (I am paraphrasing, I don't remember the exact words).
But When You Earn That Much Money Online Will You Say You Are Free Now?
The problem with entrepreneurship is that you keep building and building, and you never accept that you are there now, And you can now finally start spending more time with your loved ones.
When do you realize that you actually made it? I have seen many online business owners, very successful online business owners, who are still working long hours and not sleeping or even having time with their family because they are too busy with the business they started so they can spend more time with the family.
I was talking to a friend of ours who started a digital marketing Agency with two of his former colleagues, the business seems to be doing well, so I asked him why he quit his job and started his own business? He said he started the business so he can have the freedom to take a break when he wanted to and spend more time with his wife and kids.
So I asked him how that was working out for him, and he said not so good. He works longer hours than when he was working the 9 to 5, and he actually spends less time with the family because he and his partners are working on growing the business even bigger.
Is It A Case Of Getting Out Of One Rat Race And Into Another?
In my opinion, there is always more money to be made, more strategies to apply, new things to try, But we must find a balance and not fall into the same hole we were trying to escape from. I think if you have reached your initial income goal, then it's time to start living.
Am I saying that you should neglect your online business? Not at all, I am just saying, you can maybe start spending more time with your loved ones without constantly looking at your computer or your phone.
Your website will still be there when you come back from your weekly date night with your wife/husband, it will still be there when you get back from spending quality time with your kids. Yes, it will still be there when you return from your vacation.
Conclusion
These are just some thoughts I had, I think it's easy to lose focus of what really brought us here, we are here because we are looking for that financial freedom. Because we want to be our own boss right? Well, what happens when we actually become our own boss?
Do we accept that we are there, or do we keep working for more and more? When will that freedom finally come? Just food for thought.

Very nicely said Rose. And I completely agree with you. We should spend time with our loved once. But sometimes people are either greedy or became addicted to it. Or they could be workaholics.
If you had a comfortable position that you left and jumped in completely, you no longer have a blanket. Then you find yourself having to work harder of losing everything. If that is your main, the best answer is to build a very good list that you continually sell to get as many passive incomes as you can. With those 2 programs it will serve ongoing income in order to provide those Play Days.
Great advice indeed. I was just saying that even after people are making good money online, they still don't have time to spend with the family, yet that was perhaps one of the reasons they wanted to start a business in the first plaace.
I actually thought I ad answered this by my phone, but it doesn't seem to have posted.
I got there back in 2009 when I left my secure day job to work online full time. That was as a result of building my list, which was with AWeber, who paid me a cheque every month which then had to be paid into the bank.I also had no safety net to fall back on and a marriage that was failing(it subsequently did, thankfully)
The commissions meant AWeber was paying me and I had money for luxuries.
From there, you then progress to documenting your process via a blog, so that you are THEN choosing the laptop lifestyle hours you want, as opposed to being a slave to the PC
If you are marketing without building your list and making the autoresponder work the way you want it too, because its the only way to make a copy of you online, then you are working twice as hard as you need to and the 9-5 grind you left behind, becomes a sort of zero hours, much longer grind because you are your own boss with no schedule.
i write when I want to write now, my list works well and works on autopilot, sending out offers multiple times.
I left the rat race 12 years ago February just gone, zero safety net.
What we do as entrepreneurs if we are not careful is swap 9-5 for effectively a freedom lifestyle change which often means working longer hours.
However if you have built your list up, through an email provider such as AWeber, so your marketing is automated then the laptop lifestyle in turn comes by default, which is when you then turn to blogging /writing and turning your experience into a more profitable business at the hours you choose.
Thats where I am currently and its nice.
As an example of this in my very very early days AWeber was paying me a nice cheque monthly which at that time I had to cash at the bank, but the commission both more than covered their monthly fee and paid for nice treats.
I say this as an example of how powerful email marketing can be.

When you love what you do it can be hard to tear yourself away.
I have worked for myself for years now and it was to give me the time to have with the grandchildren. I looked after them while the parent's worked.
It was perfect. I worked early morning and once they returned home in the evening. Depending on the age of the youngest I might get work time while they napped.
The eldest is now 24 and has a baby of her own and started her own online business last year.
Now the youngest daughter is expecting her second child, 7 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild and the child care continues.
My websites here fit around the original business and the family.
It's worked and still is working very well. I love every minute of it.
