Who looks for Free Stuff Online?

Who doesn't? What should we as marketers expect of the public? We offer 'freebies' to entice people to join our mailing list. We offer free information hoping that people will click on our affiliate link and buy a product.

I once was told that customers don't care about you and what you want. They do care about what value you can offer them. They will leave your business or blog, their town and even country if a better life opportunity awaits.

Company stories and statements, values and feel good teamwork is for the employees, not the customers.

When you visit a grocer, as a customer the quality and price of the produce is what you are looking for. Most people won't buy expensive poor quality produce any more than they will buy products that they don't like.

What is value?

I try to take this message with me when I think about my blog and my social media profiles. A potential customer is looking for value. Free stuff will always offer the customer value, as long as it is true and helpful to them.

I often hear comments from online marketers about some people just wanting all the free stuff but not pulling out the wallet. I even had an email at the end of a long sequence of tips and 'buy me offers' that said something along the lines of " I have given you lots of free stuff and as you haven't purchased anything I feel I have nothing further to offer you, so thank you and goodbye".

Did this marketer offer value or were they just all about selling? What if I wasn't quite in a financial position to purchase the product or the offer wasn't just right? I have often seen a product a second time and then purchased.

Often online marketers get hung up on making the sale rather than always offering value. If people have not unsubscribed from your email list and are still downloading the free stuff, then they are still in the market in my opinion.

Patience

I once spent an hour helping someone without expecting a sale. The product I sold was not relevant to their needs, but I still told them how to solve their problem with someone else's product. Twelve months later they approached me thanking me for my previous help and they now needed the product I sold. Patience and value are virtues we all need to consider.

I'm not saying don't make sales pitches, we all need to eat. I hope that I can offer an online product or service that will offer value for freebee seeker who will later become a customer.

I believe that freebee seekers are still potential customers. You just need to present your offer or product in a completely different way. Eventually you will find the right trigger and it can make all the difference.

Thanks for this post RoseAnn. You're correct, sometimes someone might be interested in a product though it might not be the right time - time-wise or financially - to take up the purchase. Though they might come back to it at a later date. I know I certainly have done. Best wishes.

Great post, thanks for sharing

Yes, eventually you will get them- you are so right
Most people think" What's in it for me?" and we need to think like this all the time" What's in it for them"
Thank you
