I got BANNED on TikTok without any good reason!
1,5 days ago TikTok suddenly banned my account.
I woke up.
Grabbed my phone.
Went to TikTok and it said that my account was banned.
53,200+ followers and 200,000 - 450,000 views per day within the last week.
GONE!
BOOM!
Why Was I Banned from TikTok?
In three words:
I got bullied.
Let me tell you the whole story step-by-step...
1) I Created an ULTRA-POPULAR Trend
Last week I created one of the biggest trends in the Finnish TikTok.
There were 2 themes with this trend:
1) Hermes House Band - I Will Survive Music
2) Video started in a way that a creator seems disappointed. But then he remembers that he's making money online and life is smiling! (And the happy I Will Survive music starts playing.)
For example,
"Oh man, tomorrow is Monday and I'll need to wake up early to work...
But then you realize...
You make money online automatically and you can choose what to do!"
There are/were hundreds of videos with this theme.
Millions of views.
In fact, tens of millions of views if we count all videos within this theme.
That's a LOT! Because Finnish TikTok is a small niche. Very few people in the world speak Finnish!
2) Finnish People Start to Become Jealous
I don't know how much do you know about the Finnish culture but let me give you some background.
In Finland, many people tend to become extremely if someone is really successful.
For most people, there's not a similar culture as in America where success is being admired.
That shows up obviously in many ways...
But in this specific case, people started creating all kinds of fake rumors about me.
3) Fake Stories
They made up some stories that were absolute lies.
For example, "I clicked Roope's link and lost 800e immediately from a bank account."
I mean... Is that even possible in theory? You'd need to be the best magician in the world to do something like that.
Obviouly, anyone didn't have ANY PROOF for those claims.
People didn't need any proofs... They were already jealous and now they got a chance to hate.
Little kids on TikTok started believing those fake stories and suddenly tons of people started attacking me like an angry mob (online, fortunately not offline!)
One of the main claims was that I'm promoting a "pyramid scheme" = Wealthy Affiliate. Everyone who knows what Wealthy Affiliate is knows that's a complete lie.
Important note: It's also important to point out that a lot of followers have also been very supportive. In fact, everyone who has followed me on TikTok (or any other platform) for a while, know that my recommendations are legit. And they've been supporting me against the misinformed kids.
But the angry mob of TikTok kids didn't want to do the research...
4) Account Gets Banned
I got more and more views each day.
Even 450,000 views in a day which is A LOT for a Finnish TikToker. It basically means that every single Finnish person who used TikTok saw my videos.
People started shouting their fake claims on my profile and saying lots of nasty words.
I blocked them because I wanted to keep my profile keep and such nasty words aren't part of the good discussion.
People became even angrier.
They started reporting my profile WITHOUT ANY GOOD REASON...
And as a result, Tuesday morning I woke up and my account was banned.
COMEBACK - Getting Account Recovered?
I started researching online on how to recover the banned TikTok account.
I saw lots of YouTube videos that many people's accounts on TikTok have been banned without any valid reasons.
AND... Several people also told that their accounts have been recovered!
For someone, it took 3 days to get recovered.
For the other one, it took 6 days...
Another account recovered in 4 days...
And in none of those cases, TikTok didn't tell the reason for the ban.
Therefore, I sent claims to TikTok to get my account recovered.
I'm still waiting for a response...

New Account
Lots of my followers from TikTok came to my YouTube channel and requested in the comments that I'd come to TikTok.
Therefore, I created a new account yesterday evening.
In less than 24 hours the new account has got over 1,300 followers and over 100,000 views.
A positive thing about TikTok is that your number of followers doesn't automatically correlate to your number of views.
In fact, I got more views when I had less than 2,000 followers than with over 52,000 followers.
Is TikTok Worth It?
This is a double-edged sword.
TikTok is a great source of traffic. If you know what to do, you can get tons of traffic FAST.
If you are (or your phone/SIM card is) from the US, Australia, UK or Canada, I'd highly recommend at least considering TikTok.
You'll get an advantage because your videos will initially be targeted to the place where your SIM card is registered.
On the other hand...
TikTok is the most "brutal" platform of all. Everyone that I've talked with admits that the comments on TikTok are the lowest quality.
And it's pretty addictive so you may end up spending way too much time.
BOTTOM LINE: Don't Focus on Just One Platform
If you are focusing on just one platform, you're putting yourself in a high risk.
- Google can "kill" your website rankings overnight and you may lose half of your traffic.
- TikTok can ban your account without any good reason.
- Quora has banned almost every marketer that I've heard of.
- Facebook bans advertisers all the time.
- Instagram bans people.
The "safest" way to build your business is probably to collect an email list because nobody can take it from you. Once you have an email list, it's 100% yours.
YouTube also seems much safer compared to other platforms. I've not yet heard of anyone getting banned from YouTube without a really serious issue (violence, abuse, strong racism, etc.)
And a benefit of blogging is obviously that you own your blog 100%. Nobody can ban it. But Google can drop your traffic of course.
In any case, I'll be spending less time on TikTok.
Most likely, I'll still publish videos because I have a strong following and I get tons of traffic. Many people told me that they really want to see my videos.
However, I'll not spend time replying to comments like before.
I'll publish less.
If a platform can suddenly ban you like that, it's not worth it to spend much time.

I am sorry to learn what happened to you Roope. It's very unfortunate no investigative work was done. I get the sense that you are a strong-willed person with the book of light by your side. I am sorry to hear about your challenges. For my own reasons, I have gorged on Youtube videos within the last week that discuss how to deal with the haters.
As you are well aware, the more successful you are; the more haters that you will have to deal with. You are doing AWESOME!!!!!

There is a raging under current in most platforms which is amplified on social media platforms out of all proportions.
One of the best lessons we can all learn as marketers is that it is not always the platform that pulls the pin on account banning and cancel grenades.
Look to fellow users and niche competitors, probably 9 out of 10 times.
Most marketers blame the platform when it's not the case.
Awesome experience share Roope and much respect for the way you are handling the whole thing and for the advice given.

So far, no. I know that getting banned from your tiktok account will not do any good which can also attract more haters even on other social platforms like Facebook and Youtube. So I think you should do a video on Youtube that talks about your situation.
I hope that your tiktok account gets reinstated. :/
