15 Tips to Make Money on Fiverr (STEP-BY-STEP)

Personally, I prefer making money with affiliate marketing because it gives you lots of freedom:

• Earn passive income (=earn money while you're sleeping)
• Work anytime you want, no deadlines or schedules

In most cases, you won't have those benefits with 9-5 jobs or freelance jobs.

However, building your passive income streams may take time and often people need some money urgently to pay for their food, rent, etc.

Until the passive income starts pouring in, it may be necessary to keep on working on active income streams unless you have savings.

Fiverr is one of the biggest and most established freelance marketplaces in the world where you can make money providing almost any services.

I have created 3 videos where I have showed 34 ways to make money on Fiverr even without any prior skills. If you want that I'll publish those video also here on Wealthy Affiliate, let me know in the comments.

In this post, I'll give you 15 tips on how you can make more money on Fiverr faster.

I’ll divide these 15 “hacks” to making money on Fiverr into 3 categories and we’ll start immediately with the first one:

1. Create Your Gig
2. Promote Your Gig
3. Deliver What You Promised

Let's start immediately with the first one.

Part 1) Create Your Gig

1. Use the Right Keyword

When potential buyers search on Fiverr, they must find your services on search. Therefore, you’ll need to use the right keyword in your title, tags and description.

When you write your title think about this from 2 perspectives:

1. What are your strengths? If writing is your strength, provide writing gigs. Not music.
2. What kinds of offers are people looking for? It must have some demand.

=> Niche Down

If you write on Fiverr search for example “Writing” (Show this on Fiverr as screencast)

it gives you suggestions such as “SEO Writing” “Article Writing” etc.

Click “SEO Writing”

It suggests, “SEO Article Writing”

This is much better than generic “Writing”

Include this in your title, “I will do SEO Article Writing…” Then you can even add “...Or a blog post writing.”

If your Fiverr gig is titled, "I will do SEO Article Writing or a blog post writing.” you’ll be targeting 2 keywords with one title.

2. Description

Include keywords “SEO Article Writing” and “blog post writing” preferably a few times in your description.

3. Tags

Include keywords and related keywords such as “content writing” “Creative writing” etc.

4. Don’t Change Your Gig Name (URL Stays the Same)

Once you have created your gig name, Fiverr creates a URL for that offer. That’s the website address where people will see your gig on the Internet.

You’ll want it to be the same as your gig title and therefore you must not change it. This should improve the SEO (=search engine optimization) of your Fiverr gig.

5. Get a Higher CTR (=Click-Through Rate)

When your Fiverr gig gets more clicks than other Fiverr gigs, Fiverr sees this as a positive sign and they’ll rank your gig higher (IF you follow the other tips that you’ll learn later in this post.)

6. Optimize Your Images & Thumbnails

The first thumbnail is the most important one because people will see it first. However, I recommend that you’ll add 2-3 more images to encourage people to click and buy your gig.

The first image should be relevant to your Fiverr gig title.
(Piano lesson => Picture of you playing the piano.
Guitar lesson => Picture of you playing guitar.)

In other images, you can also give reasons why people should choose you. For example, samples of your previous work or testimonials from your clients.

Now that your gig is ready, we’ll move to part 2..

Part 2) Promote Your Gig

I’ve seen way too many people creating Fiverr gigs and then complaining that nobody buys. => Creating your profile and gig generally is not enough if you want to get THE BEST RESULTS!

Take the FULL RESPONSIBILITY of getting people to buy from you.

First, you can of course create a couple of different gigs instead of one to increase your chances of getting found on search but then you'll move to the promotion part if you are not getting buyers organically.

7. Send Offers to People Who Might Be Interested in Buying (Friends, Business Prospects)

• Do you know anyone who might need this Fiverr gig?
• Do you have any friends who might benefit from your gig?
• Do you know any companies who might need your service?

=> SEND THEM MESSAGES with a link to your gig!

If you can get those initial first few buys, it’ll be much easier for you to get ranked on top of Fiverr search.

8. Send Offers to Buyer Gigs

1. Go to Fiverr
2. Sign in as a Seller
3. Click “More”
4. Click “Buyer Requests”

Here you’ll see requests from people who are willing to buy and they also show how much they’re willing to pay.

In order to see them, you’ll need to have your gigs created first.

Then just send them your offers until you start getting purchases.

9. Promote on Social Media

Create for example, a YouTube channel, Instagram Page or TikTok channel where you show examples of your work.

Show people that you can really do the work and deliver the results.

As you do this, you’ll also open opportunities for other income streams:

1. Ad revenue
2. Affiliate marketing
3. Sponsorships

(10. Gig Favorites Gaming?)

Some people claim that when more people favorite your gig, you’ll get ranked higher. Then they recommend that you should get as many favorites to your gig as possible.

However, based on what I have seen this is not accurate.

You can of course try it yourself and draw your own conclusions.

11. Reply Messages Fast

If potential buyers message you, reply to them as fast as possible in order to get them to purchase. The faster you reply, the more likely they’ll purchase at least for 2 reasons:

1) If you don’t reply fast, they may buy from others who have already replied to their questions.

2) If you reply fast, you give them the confidence that after they have bought from you, you’ll deliver a great service.

If you follow these steps long enough, you’ll start getting purchases sooner later than later and we're ready to move to Part 3.

Part 3) Deliver What You Promised

When people buy from you on Fiverr, your goal is to...

12. Get 5-Star Reviews

The more 5-star reviews you’ll get, the higher you’ll get ranked.

Do everything that you humanly can to give customers what they’re looking for.

It’s recommended that you have some questions for your customers before you start working on your gig. Your customers’ answers will direct your work and make it easier for you to deliver what they’re looking for.

13. Don’t Cancel Gigs!

If you cancel your gigs, Fiverr will rank you lower.

14. Deliver Gigs on Time

If you promised to deliver in 2 days, deliver the gig in 2 days.
If you promised to deliver in 1 day, deliver the gig in 1 day.
=> Do what you promised!

The more gigs you deliver on time, the higher you’ll get ranked which brings us to our last point...

15. Finish As Many Gigs As Possible

No matter what kind of services people are searching for on Fiverr, people that have delivered their gigs many times are almost always ranked on top.

If you deliver your service more times than others, it gives you immediately an advantage against all the other people on Fiverr search.

If you follow these 15 tips consistently, the chances are that you'll make money on Fiverr sooner rather than later.
