"Artificial intelligence is the strategic technology that leads in the new round of international competition." by Xi, Jinping

After living in China from 2000 to 2012, I believe the Chinese culture is very pragmatic and patient. The people and government believe that truth depends very much on situation, context and time. They do what is necessary to survive no matter how long it takes.

Most Chinese highly respect hierarchy and appreciate proper social relations, full of harmony and with minimal conflict. Intercultural marriages have their challenges, but also great benefits if both sides can adapt. At the present time we both chose to live in Canada.

If the Chinese government seriously wants to lead in AI, I believe they will likely do it, but I hope it will take a long time and that a better system of government for the world evolves out of the mess we are now in.

Perhaps AI will solve this problem and lead the way peacefully!

Hi Rodger, The only thing about AI is that it doesn't have human feelings, thoughts, emotions. It is a cold computer that is going to do is already doing work of a human. As times go on computers are going to be more and more prevalence in the years to come.

Nothing can be sacrifice for a human being's touch, emotions, desires, needs and wants. The scientists are looking into giving AI human emotions, but it will not be the same.

I totally agree and have yet to find AI's heart. I love people, but they all have blemishes like me. It is hard to know how to react to someone who is perfect or always has a logical reason. If I ask AI a question they say they can't answer and I ask it in a slightly different way, they reply in a slightly different way. I usually give up for fear of being put on some sort of blacklist.

It seems like I am 3 years old and asking my mother a question she can't answer. At that age Mother knows all (to me) just like AI, but
she gives answers until she just can't and in frustration tells me to go ask my dad and he said "I don't know". I learn that these are questions you don't usually ask adults. It frustrates them and they may even get mad at you or put you to work, so you will forget the question.

Perhaps AI with its infinite patience will keep repeating the same answer or give me tasks of searching where to find the answer. Maybe they even tell me there is no answer, but if that is the case, how could I come up with the question? The best I can come up is that languages are not perfect and can cause confusion (questions can be asked that can't possibly be answered and just go around in a circle).

Are we all excited about AI because it can answer more questions than a mother.

I am going to ask AI what sex she is and if she/he loved me when I was 3 years old plus if she still does now.

AI has answered:
"I'm just a computer program, so I don't have feelings, emotions, or the capacity to love anyone. However, I'm here to provide information, answer your questions, and assist with any concerns you may have. How can I assist you today, Roger Humbke?"

Her or His answer at least gives me the answer to why I feel uneasy when I read content or see visuals (and eventually when I talk with a computer online) created by them.

Its a hopeful solution to the world but could be the answer

At the same time I am having a hard time believing most of us will have a hard time giving up our human freedoms and taking directions from a machine without a heart or feeling as we know it now.

yes but it could generate ideas for us to use

I'm not so sure, Roger! We will just have to wait and see!

I don't have too long to wait unless someone learns how to extend the time we have in our present body. As my memory and body slowly fade, I become more interested in what's ahead than what's behind. My belief in the survival of consciousness in some form or other is strong enough to see me through leaving this body and life behind.

We all have our beliefs of the afterlife, Roger. We won't actually know what is true until we experience it ourselves! We just have to hold onto our faith!
