Am I doing too much, am I complicating this, do I need a landing page after all or no?

So I decided to go ahead and cancel the rest of my free trial of my experiment because there was no way I was going to make that big of a difference before the 5 days were up. Lately, I’ve been wondering something, do I really need a landing, sales, and checkout page for promoting affiliate products; am I doing something wrong, if so, what? If I’m on the right track then what do I have to do in order to get more traffic?

I have tried different things and I’ve failed with everything, I don’t understand what I could to further increase traffic and whatever else, I feel like I’ve exhausted all options. I don’t want to give up, I’m not, but there’s got to be a way for me to use somebody’s landing page software to guide visitors from website to the actual product. I’ve never had a problem with call to action, “I’ve always had call to actions that state the following “If you’re looking to own your very own copy of ‘xyz’ then click on the link below.

Last I checked, that was a call to action and one that very well tells visitors where to go and how to obtain said item for. I’ve gotten a lot of shit for not having a call to action and the aforementioned call to action was something a fellow affiliate here told me to go about it that way. So now I’m sort of at a loss with no real answers and no real hope of trying to see what different things work, I’ve been getting advice after advice on how to go about doing things differently and I was told a landing, sales and checkout page would increase my chances of getting sales.

So my questions are these, for those who has seen my website do I actually need any landing page or landing page software if so then what and if not then why; I just feel so lost at this point. I know I need something to make my website pop like a landing page but the question is do I really need one; should I shorten my posts or what do I do?

All input welcome!

Have you thought of using social media to bring more traffic? It does take time to build followers but is worth the effort.

I already do Linda, it's sort of getting to be a bit of a pointless venture considering that I don't get much feedback from the groups in which I post.

I find twitter and Instagram the most responsive.

I'll be watching your answers, because I sometimes wonder if I am missing something as well. Maybe we will both learn what we need to know.

Awesome Granny, I hope you've been well.

Yes, doing well. Very tickled, as I have a friend coming over this afternoon who will teach me how to deal with my dead links. That will be most helpful.

Have you used a dead link checker? It's a good idea to do so periodically.

That's cool Granny, I'm glad that you're learning something new. In this day and age, everyone needs to learn how to stay ahead of these millennials, good for you.

Rodney, I don't use a landing page, whatever the H--a landing page is. Sounds like something a plane would need. Write good consistent content and let your own personality show through.Write content that tells your visitors you care- about your subject and your visitors. Get that down good and then start adding flourishes to your posts.
That is what works for me. As our traffic grows and we get indexed by Google for every post- then time to explore and start using additional things to embellish our websites.

Explore and start using additional things to embellish our websites, like what Barb; I feel like you're going somewhere with this. What do you have in mind?

oh things like landing pages, banners, typography video, etc. I think we need to concentrate on writing good Content first and foremost, then when we have that down, we can begin to branch out into other ways to brighten our websites. After all we can't do everything at once.

Awesome Barb, so how many posts do you think should be on a website before branching out?

Rodney,
I'm not sure what you mean about branching out, but if you mean building up your website, I think that depends upon your feeling comfortable trying some things that you think would make your website more welcoming to visitors. Are you being indexed by Google on a regular basis--if you are, that means you are on the right track for content and keywords.
I think I have about 15 posts on one Website and 24 on the other--that's in the space of about 10 months. But everyone works at a different pace-
Try suggestions that Kyle offers-Watch Jay's Webinars- Some things I'm not ready for yet, but at least I know where to find ideas when I am ready. Move at your own pace-make each post t he best one yet- that's the most I can tell you. I think you're doing fine.

Thanks Barb, I appreciate the feedback.

The answer is, no, you don't NEED any of those. What you do NEED is consistent traffic of people who need a problem solved and your site and your content and your affiliate links will solve their problem.
You need traffic that will convert.
Everything you learn here at WA will get you there, but you already know it takes time, and a lot of hard work.
I have been at this for a few years now and I know your frustrations. I haven't made any real money, but it is happening a little at a time.
I just keep plugging away with high quality content, posting on many social media outlets, engaging on Quora, Pinterest and yes Facebook.
I will keep trying everything I have been taught here, plus all the other things I have learned online with research on how the experts have done it.
Best of luck Rodney.

Well said Chender, I don't know what to do anymore but I can say that I feel like I was doing fine before all of the stuff I started doing, I can say that I'm still looking for that holy grail but I'm not going to waste anymore time doing any of the crap that doesn't work. Thanks buddy.

Rodney, the holy grail is sitting right in front of you with the training WA offers. Content and keyword research. Keep it simple and keep writing.

Laura

Thanks Laura, so are you saying that landing pages and the like isn't needed at all?

No, Rodney, I am not saying that. It is a fine line. First and foremost is to write content with good keywords. The training Kyle teaches.

What we tend to do as affiliate marketers is to see something someone else has or we hear that something makes a big difference and we get lost in that one thing until we find another thing to get lost in.

Number 1 is to write. When the website is built out and traffic is good then take a look at the rest and see if you can continue to write but add more to your site.

You will write and write until one day for some reason a post you write will be the one that will bring in most of the traffic. Then you will have a second one and so on. One never knows when this will happen.

No magic formulas only simple old fashion writing content with good keywords.

A landing page is not a make it or break it. Easy navigation, fast sites, good call to action, strong keyword-rich content those are deal-breakers.

I hope this makes more sense.

It does, so all this time, I've been obsessing over what I'm not doing right. I was at work earlier and I had an idea so as to showcase products from my store. But, I'm still building on the theory base but I'll have something concrete soon.

Rodney, By George I think you got it!
