Are Your Posts Long Enough
Engaging Your Audience With Longer Articles
Hi Folks
New members are constantly asking me how long their post should be.
What in fact is the ideal length your posts must be to ensure a high ranking in the SERPs?
As the more experienced of the members will know by now, nothing beats good content when it comes to search engine rankings. But not just any old content because original and relevant content will always achieve a better search ranking.
When the search engines begin to crawl your site they will be looking for content that's at least 500 words. In fact, in a recent survey by Backlinko the average length of articles on the first page of Google was 1,890 words.
Also according to Moz, content of over 1,000 words tends to get more likes and shares. This of course means more visibility in search engines.
People should be able to understand what you’re saying so they can stay engaged, otherwise they will simply bounce away. Therefore you should make sure that your posts are written in a simple and clear way.
Lets move on to Keywords...
Optimize Content With Long-Tail Keywords
Optimizing your keywords is really important when it comes to SEO and with long-tail keywords, your website will get more targeted and relevant traffic. There will be lots of sites which will probably use the same or similar keywords but if you want to target your niche audience you need to stand out from the crowd.
A long-tail keyword may not be used very often in search engines but you can be sure they will lead to a targeted and relevant audience. Why? Because long-tail keywords are more specific to a customer’s needs.
Run a check on your competitors and figure out the good keywords that they are targeting.
There could be hundreds if not thousands of long tail keywords to monitor for which your website might be ranking but that are unknown to you. A ranking tracking tool like ProRankTracker can be a great help.
There you have it folks and if you want to boost your traffic to your website then I suggest you look for those Longtail Keywords
Have a great day and be successful.

I can see it takes some brain storming to research those key word phrases. If you don’t, your just wasting your time and your content is overlooked by your potential audience and future customer.
Hello Judson and thank you for your visit and for your comment.
Yes it does take some research to find those great keywords but well worth you taking the trouble to do so.
You will reap the benefit with an increase in visitor numbers to your site and this of course will be reflected in the amount of sales you make.
Have a good day today and the week to come.

Hello Grant and thank you for taking the time to read my blog and of course for your comment.
If you followed the links to the Backlinko and Moz articles you would find the clarification you need for my blog.
Hope your Sunday turns out nice for you.

Robert,
Great article and good to know information. I sometimes (ok, most of the time) struggle with that word count. I tend to be short but have been working on inprovement.
Thanks for the blog and the motivation.
Sanders
Hi Sanders and thank you for your visit and for your input via the comment.
I'm a writer and have been for several years so writing is no bother for me.
But I know that not everyone can write continuously for their site without having writers block or running out of things to write about.
There is always people online that will write articles for you of course there are always PLR articles.
Hope your Saturday is going well.
Robert

Now I'm off for the night.

Very interesting post, Robert. I really enjoyed reading it.
When writing posts for my website, I always ask myself whether they are of suitable length. I usually stick to a length of 1000 - 2000 words but it seems that I would be better off writing more than 2500. I'm just a bit concerned that my audience will lose patience when the posts are that long. What is your experience - do you have some shorter posts as well or do you make sure they are all over 2500 words?
Hello Beate and thank you for reading this blog.
1,000 to 2,000 words is perfectly fine.
In fact I sometimes publish articles of 500 words and that's ok if that length is enough for what you are writing about.
You must remember that a lot of people (and the number will go up) use their smart phone to browse the net and do you seriously believe they will read all the way to the bottom.
No way, but they will read whatever grabs their attention and that's what you should aim for.
Have lots of Sub Headers with good keywords and they will get the general idea what the article is about.
Hope your day/evening is going well.
Now I'm off for the night as its getting late.
Catch you again tomorrow perhaps.
Robert
Thanks for your informative answer, Robert. That's very helpful. So I really have to use some common sense when writing posts and, hopefully, won't be too far off.
Have a great evening.
Beate
It does take practice and of course time to achieve a happy medium.
You will soon get the hang of it though.
Now I'm def off for the night.

A very interesting and enlightening post, Robert. I'll give Pro Rank Tracker a shot, and see if it can help me out.
When I clicked on the Longtail Keywords link, it sent me to a Beta Wealthy Affiliate site, and asked me for a username and password...
James
Sorry about that keyword link James.
I'm currently testing a Beta Version of whats going to be the new WA platform.
I will see if I can change it.
Thank you for reading my blog and for your comment.
Hope your evening is going well.
Robert
It's OK, Robert...not a problem. For a moment, I thought I was locked out of WA, and that's why I couldn't log in there.
I'm having a nice and relaxed evening...working on my site. I should be hitting the sack pretty soon as it was a long night last night.
Hope you are fine too.
James
It will won't let me enter. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, or it's time to go to the Land of Nod, and I can't think straight :)
I'll give it another shot tomorrow, Robert.

Hi Dena and a good Sunday morning to you although I suspect you're not up yet unless those hounds of your have got you up and about outside.
You should always bookmark the blogs you believe will help you in the future and if this is one of them then thank you in advance for doing so.
Have a great Sunday whatever you're up to.
Robert
I am up now got pounced on by a 55 pound basset hound. I wanted to say thank you for the tip. I have actually been saving the email that I get so I can return to them, having a duh moment, never thought about bookmarking them because they are within WA. It is surprising how our brains think sometimes.
No probs as long as you enjoy what you're doing every day is a good day.
