How To Avoid Procrastination in 5 Simple Steps
At some point in our lives, I am sure we must have experienced some level of procrastination.
Finding Excuses
Always putting things off that we know, could be done today. Findig millions of excuses and not getting started is our biggest weakness.
This happens even when we know what we should be doing, yet we find reasons to prevent us from doing the actual work.
For example, You know you have an assignment to complete such as:
- Writing content for your blogs
- Doing research
- Working on your business or
- Completing the tranining.
Somehow a little voice in your head may say:
- You have plenty of time, You can do it tomorrow
- Let me just have this cup of tea and watch a bit of Telly
- There is somework to be done in the house, Let me attend to that first
- I feel so tired, I am going to lie down first then I will do the work later
- And so on
So, You carry on lying to yourself and remain in a viscious cycle.
Unfortunately, if we don't learn how to deal with it effectively, it can cause serious problems and affect our perfomance.
And us being entrepreneurs or business owners, we cannot afford the luxury of losing valuable time as it will hinder our progress to achieve success in our lives and business.
How do we deal with this handicap?
By adopting the following 5 Simple Steps and see how we can improve our condition:
1)Simply by just getting on with it - make a conscious decision to start doing the work right now. No excuses are accepted.
2)Create a to do list - Write what you need to do in terms of goals/tasks and the outcome you expect to achieve before you start the work.
3)Choose a Particular time when you will do the work - make it part of your daily ritual and habit, so you know at specific time you are expected to do this work.
4)Beware of your behaviourial patterns consiously. You need to prevent yourself from falling into bad habits and excuses. Prevention is better than cure.
4)Proritise your work - do the most important things first. I find tackling the most difficult tasks helps a lot. By getting them out of the way early, completing the remaining tasks become much easier.
I guess what we should be aiming here for, is to be PRODUCTIVE with our most precious commodity, and that is our TIME.
The more we can accomplish, the quicker and the easiest it will be for us to achieve success in our businesses.

In point of fact, I am familiar with some of these excellent suggestions and have procrastinated even doing this much in my day...
1.) I will sit to write down some goals and priorities for today.
Thank you for being here, please remain.
Respectfully David
Hey David, I am glad I have somewhat inspired you and our fellow WA members. As I replied to @pitofy, I said, We all suffer from this problem. It appears to be common to many of us. I don't know why.
We just need to TO DO IT. There is no magic trick other than doing the actual work.
I hope you are keeping up well.
Best wishes.
Rabia
