Improved ranking!

I've been working hard for a month now, building the first website in my life. Kept hearing others talking about getting ranked first page by google, etc and was filled with awe and admiration for them. I asked them how they knew about their rankings and they pointed me to Jaaxy for site rank and also google analytics. However they were cautious in encouraging me to go into any of those, telling me that I'll eventually get there in my lessons. I'd reached Course 3, Lesson 6 and hadn't been taught how to set up google analytics or how to see the ranking for my pages and posts. I was curious, really curious! Finally, I met someone on live chat who told me how to see rankings for my pages and posts on Jaaxy and so I checked it out and boy, I was so disappointed to find that out of all the pages and posts I've written, only my first post got ranked on page 15. But I told myself, never mind, it's a start...it made me want to really work on improving my pages and posts. I checked the keywords I used and tried to put in more keywords, but there wasn't much I could improve on in terms of keywords. So I turned to increasing my social circles like putting social buttons on my pages and posts and getting more involved in google+ and facebook. I was so surprised that after just 2 days of doing that, another of my pages got ranked on page 10. I haven't reached the stage where I get ranked on page 1, but at least it's improving and I see a glint of hope. Yayy!!!
