I Simply Don't Have Enough Time.
As a Sales Manager and Trainer that comment was without a doubt the one that frustrated me more than any.
Really, you don't have enough time---as if some have 24 hours in the day others less, can anybody have more? Having time or lack thereof is not the question, it's how we MANAGE the TIME we have.
When someone says "I simply don't have enough time" , they are really letting you know that cannot manage their time. 24/7/365 are the same numbers for all of us.
In trying to understand some of the dilemmas people had with time management, I did some extensive research on what works and what fails. Findings too extensive to discuss here, maybe I can include in my next book (if I can find time to write it). -:)
One solution that I did discover was having people to switch from:
a CLOCK that might as well be broken --------TO:
A COMPASS that could provide some direction
This idea was taken from THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE A book that is a must in organizing your schedule.
A quote about time availability that I love is one from Martin Luther, when asked about his plans for the next day, he replied, "work, work, work from early to late-- In fact, I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer". I have heard this SO many times when building my team. I don't have enough time; I don't have enough money; I have to wait until cows come home!!!! LOL It can be very frustrating if you are trying to build a business and no one wants to do anything except for ME! We all have plenty of time. Like you said, there are 24 hours in a day. People just love to make excuses. It is all about work ethics, motivation and focus :-) Thanks for sharing these 7 habits to practice!
This is so true and when people say sorry I just do not have the time I say you mean that you are really not interested because as you say it is purely time management and there is always time it not then that person is in serious trouble!!!!!
Sharpen the saw is so important and what I neglected so much it burned me out. I'm still struggling to recover...
That is most definitely a great book. However, there are times when due to one's current schedule of responsibilities, there might not be time to add an additional task that isn't as important until one frees up some of his responsibilities. This applies to putting off what needs to be done because one is too busy. I hear this a lot as an excuse not to take care of what is important, and needs to be taken care of. This is my personal goal in taking care of current obligations that I am obligated to first & foremost so that I can take on a new venture without having to sacrifice a responsibility. WA is important, but must be taken when there is free time, like at the current moment before I retire. Therefore it is a dream, set as a goal, to become a reality.

Time is our universal currency. Just like money, how we use it indicates whats really important to us. Great job Rick. Very meaningful
