Return to Alaska
May 2011, seven days on a beautiful cruise ship to the Inside Passage of southeast Alaska, celebrating 25 years of marriage. Our 25th was actually in December 2010, but the cruise lines can't get to Alaska until May.
November 2015, seven days on a beautiful cruise ship with several ports of call in the islands of Hawaii, celebrating 30 years of marriage.
Our 35th anniversary is fast approaching, and we have hopes of returning to Alaska and British Columbia. With my pension having been on the rocks, and still shaky at best, there are no guarantees.
Wealthy Affiliate to the rescue! After 32+ years in law enforcement, five years as a self-employed home inspector and one year as an assistant facility manager at a nearby church, I am now home to stay. I'll be 60 in September and do not wish to risk having to undergo another hernia surgery as I did two months ago.
In February 2017, my daughter introduced me to Wealthy Affiliate. Three months later I gave my word that I would work at least 18 months if hired by a nearby church. It was not easy working hard all day then coming home and focusing on writing articles for my blog. However, on June 7 of this year, six months shy of my 18-month commitment, I had to have hernia surgery. The church graciously released me of my commitment, agreeing that my family and health took precedence.
I took advantage of my recovery time and posted at least five aticles. I also applied for a part-time desk job, later hoping I would not get it. I didn't, and now I continue to write articles, enjoying my new full-time job as a blogger.
I noticed a few days ago that I never replied to some of you who commented on one of my posts. Oh, I clicked "Like", but I'm not happy with myself for taking that shortcut. So if you receive a reply from me "out of the blue", it's because I owe it to you. Please do not feel you need to reply to me, unless it's to say, "It's about time!", or "What took you so long to reply?". I doubt any of you would ever say that; y'all are too kind and gracious.
So, getting into the saddle full time with Wealthy Affiliate, I am confident my wife and I will be able to celebrate our 35th anniversary in Alaska and BC.
I have never had any regrets joining Wealthy Affiliate. I'm here to stay!
Best Regards,
Rick
P.S. FYI, my niche is not in travel nor anything related to travel. Just thought I'd add that.

Hi Rick,
I live in Alaska and hope you and your wife make it back here! You sound like a very nice and hard-working guy so I hope you continue to move forward and do well here.

Jessica,
Thank you for your kind words. We love Alaska, and watch everything we can find on YouTube from or about Alaska.
Wow! You're in the Top 50! That's great! Congratulations!
Kind Regards,
Rick
Thanks Rick. I was an ambassador for about 9 months. I dropped out this spring but I am ranked 26 now so who knows I might be back.
Either I never took the time to understand the difference between "Top 50" and "Rank". I can't help on Live Chat because 1) I don't know the answers and 2) someone always beats me to it. Oh well.
I suspect you'll make it back to the Ambassador rank.
Well done for your commitment Rick. WA is the best, isn't it. I work many hours every day on my content and within the community and I love it all
Success and longevity to you
Vicki
Thanks, Vicki! I appreciate the encouragement! May all go well for you, too!
