Identify Yourself When Asked
Don't you find it strange that people are reluctant to tell you who they are. What is the big secret about that. Are you that important not to let the world know who you are. I'm weriting this post because it's part of the rules for your profile. Before I comment or want to inspire, encourage someone I need a name to identify who you are. Here at Wealthy Affiliate is a community of like-minded individuals who will support you on your journey to success in your business. How can you help or assist someone without knowing who they are. This is your business no need in trying to be under-cover and you want the people to support you. My point is this , I want to make a positive, encouraging comment to your blogs/posts, websites. I like to think of Wealthy Affiliate as my second family when situations happen in your life good, bad or whatever you can share with the community.
When the new people start or newbies, if for some reason they do not display a photo and a name so I can welcome them in, I can count on Carson or Kyle to provide who they are. I really appreciate them for that. I have truly learned a lot being associated with Wealthy Affiliate, my book has WA a big part of it's success. In your profile, please identify yourself with your God given name and a photo of yourself. Would you do business with someone you can't put a name or a face with? That's not good business of any kind. Is this not your business that you are trying to promote? I hope this will help the new people that are coming into Wealthy Affiliate. Please leave your comments and feedback at the bottom of this post.Recent Comments

I totally agree, yet I have found that in these days many people have fears of what may be instead of what is! WA is a wonderful place of what is true. I came aboard with a name and was so unsure on how to post that I used my first and last name as my profile name instead of just Vicki! It appears that many people have a sign in name that refers to them.
I believe in time all will feel the trust fall into place, my tendency is to trust right off the top as that is what I am the most comfortable with!
Many places out there these days on this magnificent internet where people don't have the desire to be true to their word! I am so grateful the WA does have that integrity!
Vicki, I just want to know who you are. This is a business where people believe in you anf trust what you are doing for them.
People do business with people they know like and trust. If you are not willing to put your self out there, you better get a job. On the other hand, I had to become convinced that WA was trustworthy. I hung around for 6 months before I ever made a post. I finished the first lesson and had my first website up before I went Premium.
WA a provides the best training and support on the internet. Where else can you host 50 websites for $400/yr. When you are ready, complete your profile, let us know your dreams and how we can help you accomplish them. If you want to be a professional IM, let others get to know you. Do it through your websites, your mailing lists and your webinars.
Bill, how hard is it to a picture and name in your profile for a business you are trying to get started?
Everyone has their own time to adjust. They may be being stalked and making sure it is safe here.... It could be they are having a hard time trusting people they don't know......of course it's better to know who they are but I also believe some people take time to 'warm up'...
Michael, I'm just asking you to identify who you are in your profile for your business that you are trying to get started.
Ricardo, I like your attitude and perspective. There's no questions that when many set up their profile here that they are a bit circumspect. Hopefully they add their name to their profile later, once they learn to trust the community and trust in their business instincts.
I always like to address people by their first names, too. I've gone so far as to click the web link listed in their profile, and look at their site's "about" page. Most are surprisingly more open, there, in front of potentially millions more people. :)

Fran, before I make a comment I read there profile just to see what they are all about. Are they committed to there business in which they seek. Thank you, I know who you are.
I agree with you, but in defense of the "newbie" coming into this not knowing what to expect or what to trust (you know how kind and trustworthy the internet is!?!). I've seen them warm and open up when they figure out what type of community this is.
Doug has the same thought process as well.
We as ones being here for awhile must take it upon ourselves to be "Goodwill Ambassadors" towards all the newcomers to allow them to become comfortable.
Greg
Greg, this is for your business and you want people to know you. That's what your profile for, it's like an application for a job. In this case your business. Thank you!
Well said. I think that when you first join you are a little shy and are still wondering if this might be another scam. Don't really want my picture showing that I was a another victim. Have no fear WA is the real deal. Please include your photo as it makes it more personable. For get about looks, as you can see I have a face for radio. All the best. Enjoy and have fun.
Doug, when your good looking as you are there is no problem identifying who you are. You two are a beautiful couple, God bless you.
Hi, Ricardo, Very good point it is hard to relate to someone when we don't know their names. I think when folks arrive at WA it can be a bit overwhelming and you don't really know what is going on, the online world is something that you grow into when folks feel comfortable they usually start to give more information, it is all good every age has a different stage. I think what the most important thing to do is to regard your name like a brand and in so much you need to develop a strategy to manage it.The question one needs to ask is where am I going with this and how do I navigate my way through the internet to bring about the best outcomes. Just adding to the conversation.
Alex, we are all here to help one another, this is our business that we are trying to become successful with. Thank you
Very good point, Ricardo! I try to always add my name to my comments...sometimes I am a bit rushed and forget or it's just an oversight but I do feel it is important to identify yourself. Not sure if I have my name in my intro...will go check. Thanks for posting:)
I hadn't used my name in my intro so thank you very much for this post. I have now edited it so as to include my name :)
Dawn, I will always know your name. We are here at WA this is our business, so treat it as such. Thank you.
Dawn, when I first got into affiliate marketing, the first thing they taught you was to identify yourself.
I haven't done tax work in 10 years. So I have not really kept up with all the changes to tax rules related to business.
Some. not all, but some of us are reluctant to embrace who we are. I find that when people don't share who they are it isn't out of feeling overly important it's more likely related to do with shame or remorse. There are those of us (myself not long ago) are hiding. A Past that isn't needing to be revisited in that moment can intimidate people into a sense of solitude even in an open community.
Jennifer, this is there business, what's the secret of hiding who you are. Is that good for any business?
When first coming here many are trying to decide if it's a scam. Unfortunately, it's quite common in today's internet community for things such as this to end up being false. With that belief many are reluctant to be open and honest. They aren't of the business mindset yet....but with proper guidance they could come out of their shell
Jennifer, what I'm saying is in your profile these are the things that are required. This is all a part of starting your business. It's like a job interview.
I understand and don't disagree with you. I just am able to see why some may not be so quick to give out information. There's a reason for everything even if it's only valid to person doing it.
But I do understand that if one hopes to prosper here then following certain steps will greatly increase those odds.

I agree with you! When I say hello to someone who has decided to follow me I like to use their name! If it is not in their profile I do try to find it! I admit I didn't put my name in my profile, didn't even think about it actually, but I think everyone knows who I am! I may have to go back to my profile page and add my name!
Denise, it's a matter of trust. We are having business with whoever they are. Would you feel comfortable with someone you don't even know there name?
No I would not!
