I just finished the About me information and and the site that came up was all wordpress looking. I cannot seem to find my website without wordpress.

Beth, my friend, thanks so very much! It isn't exactly as you stated and I wonder if I have different software yet you got so involved that I kept looking and was able to get close! I truly, truly appreciate your help! I could always locate the dashboard, yet once there nothing was exactly the same. I never found the editing/composing screen on the upper right!!! Everytime I needed to save, I had to find the Update button on the bottom right! Anyway, I am getting there I think yet had to create another page. Thanks again for just helping me!

Hi, Vicki. It's my pleasure. It sounds like you're getting there!

When I say the editing/composing screen, I mean the white space in the middle that you type in. On mine, the dashboard options/menu is on the left side of the compose/edit space, and the part where you save, publish, create the tags and categories, etc. is on the right side of it. It sounds like yours is laid out a little differently, but I'm glad you're figuring it out.

I trying to just handle the beginning stages. My About Me, Privacy and Getting Started and I am in Affililiate Bootcamp. I am already have finished with About me and Privacy yet once I went to the site I was all jumbled. the photos weren't in the same spot and, oh man I am really confused here. Do I have to come up with a document for Getting Started to when I haven't hardly started?

I always pull up a tab with my page on it after I publish something, because the screen where you view the actual site looks different from the one where you compose and edit. I make whatever changes I need in the editing window, then refresh the real page to make sure it looks the way I want it to.

If your niche is promoting Wealthy Affiliate, you do need the Getting Started Page, because that's the one where you talk about W.A. You can use Kyle's sample page as a guide. Just be sure to put it in your own words.

If you're using a different niche (mine is children'd books and educational materials), then "Getting Started" might not be the right name for your third tab. You can tweak that based on your niche.

Hi, Vicki. The sites are created using Wordpress, which is what most professional website designers recommend. What is it about the Wordpress site that concerns you?

Thanks Beth, all your input has been great. I just can't seem to keep the design I create after I press the refresh. I will try again, I must doing something wrong. The niche is part of the question and I believe I am going to have to work on that! Thanks again!

Hi, Vicki. I think I might know what's happening. My apologies if I'm telling you something you already know.

To keep the design you create, you have to publish or save it as a draft before you navigate away from it. I save it after every section just to keep from losing anything. To do that, look to the upper right of the editing/composing screen. You should see a box that gives you options to save as draft or publish.

You can save it as a draft, then look over to the left and click "view site." That will show you what the final product will look like. If it looks the way you want it, go back to the editing screen and click publish. If it doesn't, fix it, save it, and view it again until it does look like you want it to. Then click publish. Don't refresh that page, because there's a good chance your changes won't save.

Once it's published, I leave that one the way it is and open a new one in a new tab to make sure it all looks right there too. That second window is the one I refresh after each change. So...in your dashboard, when you're editing or composing, you publish or save as draft. When you're just on your site, seeing it like a regular visitor would, you refresh.

I hope that all makes sense. If you still have trouble, let me know and maybe we can Skype you through it. I'm no tech guru, but I might be able to help or at least figure out who to ask.

I guess it supposed to be in this way because you use WordPress platform.

Where is this Paypal icon? I want to set this up for my monthly payment and I have tried and tried to locate it. Do I go to PayPal and put in a WA link? If so, what is that

Kyle said he was fixing this. I had to switch to PayPal a while ago. Paypal processes things a little differently. What Kyle told me to do was CANCEL my membership and immediately reactivate it using PayPal. At the initial setup the PayPal buttons are available.

It requires some programming technique to link in Paypal after you initially chose another payment. Its not something a self-taught programmer could do.

Hey there, well I have been trying to do this for months and this is the first suggestion of shut down and reactivate. Not sure what or how to do this and not loose anything! I will try and get a hold of Kyle.

You don't lose anything. He told me he was fixing this. I had the same issue because I have customers who pay through PayPal. We had to come up with a special technique of processing these payments differently. But all of my programmers are certified and degreed so it's not a big deal for us.

Thanks again!

Look in account settings just under your picture then scroll down to Subscription Settings you can add your PayPal info there good luck

I've tried this and it's not available in subscription settings! I was told I may have to shut down and reboot as then PayPal will appear!

Yes if you set up your Paypal account for business, you'll get a button to add to your sites. You should find a tab at the top of Paypal labeled Business.

Thanks Tonia!

You're welcome.

Go to account settings then subscription settings.

I got through the first 10 lessons, finished, the title page or home page and place all the pages in correct order. Finished the About me page and those tasks and was moving on

Have you changed themes?
Not all themes will show your menu bar even if you had them set up properly the first time.

Not on your website, in the WP dashboard, when you click on "all pages" what pages are showing up?
See pic below

There is no About Me page option on this dashboard. Unlike the other one I was working on.!!!

Mhm... I checked your site but there is nothing except the defalt "Hello World" post. Can you show me a screenshot of your About me page on your WordPress dashboard?

Do you remember what adjustment you made?
Laura

Not really, all I see when I click on the top left corner to visit the site is Earth To Herbs Health, my website, then it opens and then on the left, Earth To Herbs Health, then Customize, then New and on the far right is Howdy, Admin. Then larger typeface of EARTH TO HERBS HEALTH under that on the left and then to the right of that kind of dulled out, JUST ANOTHER WORDPRESS SITE. Down towards the middle, The date, Hello World, Uncatagorized. It then states this is my first post and I know I must have done something as again I did all 10 lessons of the first Course and had completed a site with all the requirements of those lessons. I am sorry to be such a problem here. I honestly don't know what I have done.

Contact Support and see if they can restore from a backup.
Laura

Thanks Laura, does anyone speak live on the phone?

I don't see a phone number. Have you put in a ticket?

Yes I did, thanks Laura!

You're welcome. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

In wordpress itself, not on your website, if you go to "pages" or "Posts" can you see any of your work there?

No, I can't.

I have been to pages and posts on my site and all that I have done prior is gone. When I went to pages before, this is where I added the About Me, the Privacy Policy etc. I must have done something inaccurately....

www.earthtoherbshealth.com

Okay, I don't know what has happened as I cannot locate the site I have been working on. http://earthtoherbshealth.com/ This is the site and whenever it comes up all the work I've done is gone and it states just another WordPress site. ???

If you are sure you have the right url, this is something you should contact support about. I tried to find it for you, but no luck. Don't worry to much, I am sure it's there somewhere as long as you didn't delete it.

Thanks for trying!

What’s the URL of your website?

Okay, I don't know what has happened as I cannot locate the site I have been working on. http://earthtoherbshealth.com/ .

What kind of adjustment did you make?

Could it possibly be the Plugins / That all in One SEO Pack ?

What did you do with it? Btw, when you login to your WP, do you see all your works in the back office?

www.earthtoherbshealth.com

What did you do with the All in One SEO?

I'm not sure what you mean.

You said that it could possibly be the Plugins that cause all this and you mentioned the All in One SEO Pack. So, I’m curious as to why you think it was that plugin.

Also, you mentioned you made some kind of adjustment with WordPress. What adjustment did you make?

You know, I really don't think I made an adjustment. I was just going through a training video and it was about WordPress and quite honestly, I'm not sure what I did, yet I do know the original website I created from 1 to 10 of the beginning of all of this has disappeared. I am not that computer saavy yet so I am really in a funk here.
I just thought the plugins as a maybe. I really don't know!!!

Wordpress is the platform we use here to build the websites... it is yours... there is no extra cost to use wordpress...

Once you upgrade to premium and have your own domain name.. this is the only extra charge.... about $14 ... cheap ..
