January 2019 Update - Should it be a "down"date Instead?
Hey everybody and welcome to my latest post! This is going to be an update - or should I say, maybe a "down"date - for january 2019 and you will understand soon why I use this term.
The Not-So-Good
You see, I had been doing so well in Nov 2018, with 29 starter referrals and it dropped to 17 in Dec. It's understandable that this number would drop because of Christmas and new years; nobody is really looking to make any money. People are looking to spend, not make.
I should be happy that I was able to get almost even in january, with 27 starter referrals. That's almost 1 starter referral a day. But sadly, I only had 1 referral go premium, where I had 2 each in Nov and Dec.
Income-wise and conversion-wise, I did not do as good, so that's why this is more of a "down"date.
But although I didn't make as much in January as I would have hoped, there are still good things that happened.
The Good
The number of visitors to my website in december was a little over 1900, but I'm getting back on track; the number of visitors in January was a little over 2900 and this keeps climbing.
I'm going to keep working and hope that it keeps this trend and because if it hits 3900 by the end of this month, it would bring me back to where I was in JULY2018, just before the Google update in Aug, that killed half of my traffic. So that's very encouraging and I'm very happy. :)
I must be doing something right, because I'm already way ahead than I was in JULY 2018, just before the Google update; I only had 22 referrals with 3600 visitors in JULY 2018, where I was able to get 27 referrals with 2900 visitors in January.
So although I did not make much in january, I'm still very happy with the results and how far I came.
And that's what I want to stress with newbies and other WA members here; don't run after the money because Success is not measured only in how much money you make, but how far you've come since your last check-in.
It can be that you were able to put in a few hours MORE in your website than usual, it may be that you were able to overcome an obstacles you've been stuck on for a while, it may be about your improvement and it may be about your mindset.
Every little goal, though it may not be monetary, will get you to your success. So keep ploughing on, WAers! You can do this!
And to answer the question of whether this should have been a "down"date, absolutely NOT! :) Only onwards and "up"wards now. There's nothing to be "down" about. There's always something GOOD!

I had 3 premium sales in January last year, this January I had 60.
Year to year growth is exponential. Only thing you cant do is give up.

You are clearly on the right track, Reyhana. Referrals and conversions are the icing on the cake (albeit they help us eat too) but traffic is our lifeblood and if that is increasing then everything else is possible and will follow. Have faith and stay the course.

Well said Reyhana. You are so right, that we need to see success as more than just dollar signs! Once we focus on helping people with the quality of what we write rather than a quick buck, we will all become successful.
