Should I Build a Second Website
Hello everyone!
I have been a member here at WA for about 3 months now. I have learned so much about affiliate marketing and I know that I have only begun to breach the surface of what this world can do for me. After working on and off now sine I joined, I'm starting to feel like I may have started too broadly and am thinking that perhaps I should start anew now that I have started gaining more knowledge on this business.
The problem is not my interest in my niche. In fact, the website I have begun is absolutely in the field that I want to be a part of for the remainder of my working days. The problem is that I think I have started more of an authority site and not a niche site and I'm realizing that it may be more difficult to build up. The topic of my niche while narrow is at the same time huge in it's possibilities. It is also of a nature that I cannot just do a little bit of research and write a new post 3, 4, or 5 times a week. It takes about 3 or 4 days in itself to develop the material for one post, minimum, and I am in the mindset that I want to do more and more and more, but I'm limited by my own interests and choice of niche for this first website.
I absolutely want to continue to build this first website because, as I stated, it is my passion and I think over time( a couple of years at least) it can begin to generate a significant income for me. My question to those of you with years of experience is where should I go from here?
Is it typical to start out this way? Should I consider starting a new site that is vastly more focused on a singular niche? I just think that because this first website has so many directions it can go, and ultimately I want it to go in many of those directions, that it's turning into more of a website that I will just love to take care of and gradually build as an affiliate income generator as opposed to a site that I can really put all of the WA training into on a smaller scale. I would love to hear your opinions and if anyone else is in the same position.
Thanks!!
Randy

I have thought about this. The problem though, I suppose it's my own personal problem, is that It's difficult to focus on just one area for an extended time. I want to spread out my attention to each area. This is why I'm contemplating the new website which would have a singular focus.
I don't have the years of experience you mention. I'm pretty new myself. But as I was reading your post a thought came to me. You could create specific pages on your current site that drill down to the more narrowly focused portions of your niche. For instance; If your niche was Widgets, then you could have a page about blue widgets, a page about red widgets and a page about green widgets. Perhaps then even drill down more with cheap blue widgets, elite blue widgets etc. Still keep up your site and enhance it. Specific keywords for each page and all that. The authoritative source for information and recommendations on widgets. Now, I don't know if this kind of strategy is recommended or not, but sounded good to me in my mind. Good luck.
Hi --If you only are working on one website and it is the one you are talking about above--- I would not see why you could not start one with great focus on a niche you like at the same time now. Two is mot to many---You could even fine one that may be a drilled down one of the website you are working on. If you get tired of one stop and work on the other.
Like Spirirocket said, go after the cheap blue widgets as a 2nd website ---It is really up to you. Not really knowing about your products or niche of the website your talking about ---it is hard to know what to tell yo. You should be working on two any way to help you stay moving. Why not do an WA site to promote WA ---up to you. only you know how much time you have to give to it all !!!
Let know what happens !!!
