Second guessing

I suffer with procrastination (which I have to work on Every.Single.Day.) and it is my goal to make a full time passion here at WA. However, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who second guesses their niche. Mine is beekeeping. It does seem to be a bit vague. But to pin-point just one thing within the beekeeping world would be so incredibly difficult.

To be helpful to other potential beekeepers or present beekeepers there are tons of items that they would need. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has encountered this? or perhaps I am over thinking it and should really narrow my site down to one specific item....Thoughts?

I’m married to a beekeeper :) It’s a great niche because not everyone knows about this topic but everyone seems to be interested in the education of topic. Definitely a speciality and something evergreen as we need bees to a part of our world.

Break this niche down into categories. Then focus on building out one category at a time. Strive for 15 - 30 posts on category so you represent yourself as an expert on that particular topic.

Example categories: how to get started as a beekeeper, how to maintain a beehive (once you have bees, how do you keep them alive), best beehives reviews (took months of research for us), how bees work (simple education about how smart they are, all the things they do, their lifespans), etc.

For ideas, Look at your favorite beekeeping sites and take note how what categories they use. Then if you can, try to pick some unique ones too. Ideally, be a little different than sites already online.

Also, read this great post by Kyle. He breaks down golf balls as an example.

I think Beekeeping is a great Niche! There is soooo much to know and be "helpful" with related to beekeeping. As a matter of fact, there is quite extensive research and data on how important bees are with regards to: people, the forests, others that have anything to do with pollination, etc.

Excellent Niche---go for it! I'll be watching to see how you develop it. Those who are beekeepers have such a love and desire for the bee's safety, habitation and importance to the environment. They really took a hit in recent years and beekeepers but are coming back into line with there contribution because of beekeepers.

I am no expert---just a reader. Excellent choice. I am always amazed at the diverse and great niche's our WA members come up with. This is one of those.

I am with Darlene. I think it is a perfect niche. Start-up instructions, hive maintenance, hive supplies, harvesting, ebooks, etc...
Building an authority site works for me. The guy who started a "How to build a chicken coop" website is now a millionaire.

I think you should narrow it down to a specific item, then as you grow you can broaden it a bit to include another item and so on. Just my thoughts.

I think that beekeeping in and of itself would be a great niche. I don't know that I would break it down any further - but that is just my thoughts.
