Index With Other Search Engines
I learned how to use the Bing toolbox in a Friday night WAbinar and this has more than doubled my traffic. This webmaster tools indexing you for both Bing and Yahoo and will increase your websites visibility.
I created a short video to show you how to Submit your site to Bing Toolbox.
This is my second site I have created from WA and although the results are not as significant as you have seen on others sites it illustrates my point. You can grow your traffic too and I hope to continue to update you with the results of my hard work and the lessons within WA.
My first thought was why do this when more search traffic uses Google? Check out the analytics screen shot to see why.
You can see over half of my search traffic comes from Yahoo and Bing and all I did was enter my site into the webmaster tools Bing Toolbox and request it to be indexed.
Another Statistic to Consider
Different audiences use different search engines. My target audience is obviously using Bing and in this next illustration you will see that the Bing users stay substantially longer and read almost 4 times as many pages as other search engine users. The bounce rate is nearly half as well and I'm getting a lot of return visitors as well.
Another Way to Increase Traffic
You will notice that my 4th highest traffic source is Google+. I have targeted forums and communities that are my target audience and drop links to my articles. They also contribute to a good majority of my visits in this new site.
The End Result
In the first month I had 99 visitors from organic search and in the second month I'm nearing 500 already. I did this by finding low competition keywords which also usually have low searches as well but at least I'm on page one for these results and get visits.
Watch Kyle's new video on Keywords to see exactly what I have been doing for the past month. I have targeted very low competition keywords which tend to have lower searches as well but it is free traffic and free customers.
The First month I saw about 400 visitors and the second month I'm past 1200 visitors which is 3 times as many customers coming to my site.
If this doesn't bring hope to all the other newbies then I don't know what would.
A Very Funny Fact About Quality Content
The most popular search term my site gets found for is not even a Keyword I have used in a title or post or page but was created by these search engines.
My site is still evolving and I know my traffic and business will continue to grow if I keep doing what I was taught here at WA.
I challenged myself to create 30 pages and 30 posts of content which is one a day for 2 months. I have almost reached my goal and you can see how it is paying off.

So i tried option 2 and copied the mega tag into my website header, in fact tried two websites, but both came up not verified. ???
1 out of my 3 websites didn't verify after several attempts. This one website has a certain paid 'amazon' theme which I'm thinking could be the reason. But then again this site worked for google analytics.
Did you go to the header portion and make sure it was in the correct spot. I've done that before and couldn't get sites to verify. Make sure your in between <header> meta tag </header>
Verified or indexed? Some hosting will submit stuff for you but them you may not be able to pole the information from the webmaster tools
Everytime I click on the link to get the authorization code, it takes me to Google Webmaster tools.
They may take a couple weeks to index but once they do you will see the extra traffic. It is a great feeling to get the extra traffic.
It only takes effort. I'm not an overnight billionaire but I understand the process of getting the low hanging fruit and getting ranked so that is half the battle. Now my focus is going to be converting this traffic into $.

Going over to watch the video after I click "Add Comment." Just wanted to say though that getting traffic from all 3 major search engines is a really good idea. And the stats show that as well.
Very happy I included the other 2 in my arsenal of free traffic seo. It has been a great experience to more than triple my traffic since month one.

Great video, Ryan. You made it really easy to follow along and know how to submit a site. My numbers aren't as high as yours from Bing but hopefully they will come. I submitted my more recent post url's today which is an option as well; 10 per day so I copied those in and we'll see how they work. Thanks
You never know where your going to get your highest quality of traffic and submitting your site to Bing takes very little effort for the potential return.
Hey Ryan, you should definitely post your video here within the community (instead of just on Youtube). That would be a great help for the folks here at WA and would definitely contribute to your ambassador rank (just make sure you remove any branding).
This is an excellent post and many people focus so much on Google that they totally forget about Bing and Yahoo, search engines that have always been known for their "blue collar" users. These are buyers and if you can leverage getting additional indexing and search reach within Bing and Yahoo, you are only going to see further benefit to your business.

You may never have to give up on the small fruit as it can lead to bigger fruit. For example, if I target the term:
how to make money online by selling cupcakes
Very long tail, very low hanging and chances are I could rank under that phrase very easily. BUT, as my website gains more traction and authority I will likely see my site move up the ranks under term like:
how to make money online by selling
how to make money online
how to make money
make money
etc
Because those are all components of the longer tailed term and they are all relevant to what the theme of my content is naturally about. See where I am going with this?
That makes a lot of sense. Well hopefully if I keep pace and keep working hard this will be a very merry Christmas. I've heard that is the best time to earn money online and I will be up almost 6 months when that comes around.
I was wondering how to get ranked for those smaller terms that get a ton of traffic but wasn't sure how that process worked. Time!
So you actually are getting ranked for keywords within keywords. Sheds a little light as to why people are coming to my site searching for terms I haven't even written about yet.
I'm still loving WA and all the new stuff you and Carson are doing. Maybe soon I'll go after the make money online niche too. Compete with the big dogs one day.
