Introduction

Good Evening to all you lovely people at the Great WA Family as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.

As some other posts this title could be a number of things, but, as you may guess it has been a pretty rubbish week all round.

To avoid keeping you in suspense please do read on.

The Past Few Days

The week began in an awesome fashion with my 80th birthday, many thanks to all of you who sent me your congratulations and best wishes, these were very much appreciated.

Monday was another good day, all day at the cricket for two games, sat in the sun it was absolutely great.

Then came Tuesday, I was not at all well, put it down to dehydration or even a touch of sunstroke.

In any event I have spent the last few days suffering with a sore throat, today this has now developed into a head cold. Serves me right sitting in the sun all day long.

As a result I have really not been very interested in doing anything at all, apart from one thing which resulted in my visit to the cricket.

One of my fellow members happens to be the Chairman of the Derbyshire Family History Society, over the past couple of months I have been lending him some of my research notes, to enable him to add more information to the Societies data base.

As some of you will recall I even started a website on the subject. He mentioned on Monday that he had a presentation to do on Family History. Having a thought I suggested that he might get some ideas from my old website.

When I got home sent him the site details as a result he was delighted with what I had done. It might be two years since I last posted, but it does have some eleven articles on it, which cover a number of aspects of research. I was pleased to be able to help a Society which I was one a member of off in my early days of researching my family history.

Did a little bit of adding some of the items that I have on my hard drive, seeing how they can help in the future, but beyond that did not do much else.

The reality of the matter is that I have been happier cuddled up in my favourite chair reading my kindle.

Did make myself water the baskets and tubs, but that was the extent of my work in the garden, it has also been cold a couple of days a s well.

The Next Few Days

The honest answer is that I just do not know the answer to this, it will depend on how I feel.

Like most people I hate being unwell, I just seem to get so little done, also just have no energy or enthusiasm.

Conclusion

Can honestly say that the best thing that I have done in a long time is stack up some articles for my new web site. At least I do not have to sit and think what to write for this weeks article.

Be happy, healthy and wealthy,

Please do stay safe,

God Bless.

Stuart

Hello VH,

I read your prior response to me. Yes, I do do yoga and some of the stretches I've been doing are from that discipline. Yoga has often been my lifeline when it comes to my back. I had surgery when I was 15 and was in a body cast for 3 months in the summer (NOT fun) so I always pay strict attention to my back and yoga allows me to do more than most. I actually feel better and will resume my activities next week BUT will be careful and not go full speed.

Sorry to hear you now have a head cold. As I was reading your blog tonight, I thought of something someone once told me. They said that when we get sick it's God's way of slowing us down. Now, normally my response is "yeah, yeah", then continue to try to be active and get frustrated if I can't. SO, upon reflection, maybe their point is valid. I got a lot of mundane things done this week that didn't require activity and it sounds like you relaxed some as well as helping a friend.

Maybe we DO need that down time to think and prioritize. I don't think our mission here is to be running all the time without a solid plan. We HAVE been sent here for a purpose and it's up to us to discover that purpose and use our gifts wisely. What gifts have you been given? Are you using them to serve others? It's something I've had time to think about this week. In some ways, it felt good to feel bad if that makes any sense. It forced me to plan better.

I hope you start feeling better and get some of your enthusiasm back. You can still use this time to read some of the classic gurus out there......Maxwell, Hill, etc.

I've also heard we can make all the plans we want but they just make God laugh. 😇😇😇 Some things we can't control so we have to submit and let go!

Have a great week!
Your VW

Hi VW,

Will try to respond to this in a logical sequence, if I can!

Pleased that you are a little better, just take care of yourself.

Regarding Yoga, my first website was Yoga and Pilates, long forgotten, OK I do to much! Still do the odd stretch, also have enough material to write several books.

Not sure that I relaxed enough, the impatient me likes to be on. But it could as you say be God's way of saying now that you are eighty slow down a little.

Not sure about what gifts I have, do know that for years that I have been helping others, either paid or as a volunteer. That is just my nature, or is it that I like to run things or be in charge!! Not sure.

Agree about the reading, but at the moment my enthusiasm runs to reading my kindle, but it is a good idea.

May you also have a most Blessed week.

God Bless,

As always,
Your VH.

Yes, I've been doing yoga for as long as I can remember even as a kid (I was a strange kid I guess). I can't live without yoga moves.

I was able to get the grass cut today before it got hot. My skin is a tad red tonight 😎 but that's fine, it will turn brown. I feel better with a tan for some reason.

Well VH, you have a good week and take it easy!

Your VW

Must confess that I do Yoga when I feel like it, same as meditation, but I like to do that outside in the summer! (I am also strange!).

It is funny but I also feel a lot better with a tan on my face.

Just be very careful, take it steady and have a great week.

Your VH

A belated happy 80th. Mine falls due in 2 days on the 7th. I have already booked the fire truck re the candles 🎂 and am hopefully going to sleep through the day.
Sorry to hear you’re having a woeful week. On the upside it can only get better.
Stephen

Stephen the candles would not fit on my cake!!

May you have a wonderful 80th Birthday, wishing you many more as well.

Congratulations,

Stuart

Happy Birthday -- Reaching 80 is a great landmark. I'm about to have a birthday, too, in a little over a month -- Will be 85. Now you know there is life after 80.

Hope you feel better soon. At our age, when something affects our health, it's best to hunker down and do whatever we can to get well. It's not a time to concern ourselves about the tasks we are missing. Healthy first, then work!

May you improve rapidly.

Now 85 is certainly something.

Many thanks for your sensible advice.

Stuart

Happy Birthday Stuart! Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. I have too. I'm getting over the flu which has knocked me around for close to 10 days now. Better days ahead though. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Stuart.
Cheers
Melissa

Thanks Melissa, think that it could be a touch of flu.
All the best,
Stuart

Well happy birthday Stuart, all the best.
Some weeks just go like that, and others are turbo-charged from the word go. I content myself with the law of averages, it all works out in the end. And you got your next week sorted, so that's progress.
Get well soon old friend. Look after yourself.
Bux

Cheers Bux,
Stuart

Happy to hear that your birthday was a blast Stuart... it's not everyday we turn eighty!!

We all have better days and those that are not...

The forward planning for your posts was a great idea and seems to be paying dividends!!

Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling very well this week though and I wish you a speedy recovery my friend....

Thanks as always Jessie for your comments.

Take care,

Stuart

You're always most welcome Stuart and take care of yourself ok my friend... :-)

As always will try.:)

Happy to hear that Stuart! :-)

I do hope you start to feel better soon, Stuart! Take good care and have a better week. :-)

Susan

Many thanks Susan, sincerely hope so. :)

Stuart

I hope you are feeling better. Sitting in the sun should be good for you as long as you hydrate. Curled up with a kindle sounds wonderful.
Jim

Jim, curling up is fine, just fed up that I do not feel like doing anything else.
Stuart

I understand.
