A Welcome Break

Introduction

Good Evening to all you lovely people at the Great WA Family, as always I do hope that you are all keeping both and well. Could not resist the title this week, having spent some time driving on the motorway this past week, and seeing any number of signs saying "Welcome Break", on the way to Bournemouth I did stop at one, what a shock I got, two sandwiches and a coffee cost me £14. OK, some of you will say, welcome to the real world!!

The Last Few Days

I had a good journey down in wonderful sunshine, in fact most of the week was lovely and sunny. Forgot that it was also very windy most of the time. But it did help to blow the cobwebs away!

The fist three days I walked a lot of miles, the sand was clean and really lovely, however it made me think, I had come away to relax, so I really ought to make the effort and do so. The last full day that I was there I just kept finding seats, stopping and resting, it did me the world of good, even had a thirty minute nap!!

One day I called in a cafe for a coffee, went to sit down, then did a double take, for there sat at the next table was an old friend of mine, more than that we were in the same form at school, and very often sat next to each other. Until Yvonne took poorly I often drank with him on a Friday Evening in the loal pub. his sister-in-law also happens to be Yvonne's cousin. He was down on a day trip from his main holiday base. Talk about coincidences!! But it was great to catch up with him.

After the Evening Meal I used to spend a little time with my laptop, looking what to do next wih regard to the business, I was able to look at an old website and did a little work to help me make some decisions for when I got back home.

Have checked and in fact it is one of my original websites that I keep adding to without really getting it to go anywhere, still something for me to get my teeeth into when I feel like it.

The Hotel was OK, a bit basic, like no hair dryer and no real space to put my clothes, but the food was good, I only ever have Bran and fruit for breakfast, but decided to have a change, having, Apple Juice, a bowl of fresh fruit, followed by three rashers of Bacon, two Cumberland Sausages, scambled egg, mushroms and a grilled tomato. Not forgetting two rounds of toast with honey, finishing of with a mug of tea. It was done to avoid the need for a large lunch!! (Best excuse that I can think off - lol)

On relection it has done me good, but could have done with longer, still I go away again in six weeks for two days longer, looking forward to it already!!

With the weather being so nice I was concerned about my plants but the watering idea worked, I put them all in gravel trays and put water in the trays, worked a treat.

The Next Few Days

Not quite sure yet, but getting to grips with writing more content to go with the start I made while I was away will certainly be one thing that I need to do, as will the garden.

Be Happy, Healthy and Weathy.

Please do stay safe and take care,

God Bless,

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

Its great to have a break, even if it isnt somewhere miles away from your home.

Just a break from home, even if its for a few hours of scenery, I like the coast, although now you can get a train to a lot of places rather than drive.

The money that you would spend on petrol, servicing your car and insurance sometimes its cheaper to get a train.

As for £14 for 2 sandwiches and a coffee, that is expensive, next time make a couple of rolls and take a flask, it wont cost you anything for lunch.

I sometimes go out for the day at the weekend for a few hours and take a couple of rolls and a flask of tea and you can stop whenever and wherever you want.

Keep on getting out and about and don't stay at home looking at four walls, keep on doing things and keeping your mind occupied.

Regards

Brian

Hi Brian,

Such sound advice, did intend to do as you say next time I go away, daft as it seems when I get a chance intend to go up into the Derbyshire Dales with my sketch pad and a packed lunch.

Do keep busy, have my garden, cricket, football, as well as the Royal British Legion.

Take care,

Stuart

These breaks can be so refreshing, Stuart! I'm glad you had that time to catch your breath and move forward.

Hi Diane, it did make a difference.

Good morning, Stuart.

Your hotel breakfast has reminded me of our Bournemouth and Eastbourne holidays when the children were little. At home, they would generally just have cereal for breakfast. At the hotel they had already feasted on toast, orange juice and cereal and then stared at the waitress open-mouthed when she came to our table and asked, 'And what would you like for breakfast?' But, as you say, we followed your routine. Filling up on breakfast means you can go through the day until dinner without needing much for lunch.

It certainly sounds like your holiday did you good. Where are you going for your next holiday?

Hope you have a good week at home and can make progress with your website and the garden.

Isabella

Good Morning Isabella,

Just had a good laugh at your children's comments when you were on holiday.

I am going to Torquay in June, we spent many a happy holiday there.

If the weather holds I do have a lot planned for the garden.

Have a great week.

Stuart

I have lovely memories of Torquay holidays too. It's raining here today. I don't mind. It's watering the garden and I have plenty to do inside.

Bye for now.
Isabella

My day was ruined by that lovely rain, I was at cricket, but I needed the company of my fellow members, the couple of hours did me good.

Take care,

Stuart

Yes, especially after being away for a week, it will have been good to see familiar faces and have a chat. The sun is shining today. Sorry the rain yesterday ruined your cricket.

Take care.
Isabella

Love your daily emails RAFStuart.

So kind.

Well VH,

I had to LOOK for this blog. I'm not getting WA emails like I should but then I'm not very active at the moment so maybe the algorithm somehow doesn't send me blogs regularly. In any case, I found it.

I laughed at your cost for 2 sandwiches and coffee. It would be a lot more here for sure!! Last night after church, a friend of mine and I went out for a simple meal and it cost $25 then you had to add tip. That was rather inexpensive but then it wasn't steak either and I can't complain as I got 2 meals out of it but still.

It sounds like you had a great time and it helped you a lot. Sometimes you just need to get away for a change of scenery. I feel like that now. I'm trying to make plans to meet my son and his girlfriend for a quick getaway.

My granddaughter posted the attached pix on FB today. This is my great granddaughter. She looks like her mom when she was that little. One day maybe I'll get to see her. lol

Well, you have a great week. I'm hoping to get a lot done even though the weather is heating up. I'm getting so I hate the heat. Ahhh well, I certainly can't do anything about that.

Always
Your VW

Hi VW,

Lovely photo of your Great Grandaughter; saw my youngest on Friday, when I asked for a kiss she got very shy.

Regarding the cast of my sandwiches, I find that I am getting very thrifty with what I spend these days!!

Off out again for the day, have a great week ahead,

As always,

YourVH

Great to hear you had a good and well-deserved break, Stuart, and great idea with the plants, especially when you are going away a bit longer than normal.

Take care of yourself always and keep that positive vibe around you.
