A sad story

Once upon a time there was a poor guy, living in a 3rd world country, trying to figure out how to make ends meet... thinking outside of the box.

Big G looked at him from above and thought 'interesting fella, let him be my herald!'

So G created Adsense. And the promise of making you rich, just adding a couple of lines of code to your website, and waiting for visitors to click on them...

Imagine our hero startled by the promise of $99 a click, provided he ranked on first page, get somebody to click on the Adsense block, and all these for creating a shitty article stuffed with hidden keywords to trick G's robots...

But I guess you don't want to know how it ends...

Guilty of sin

OK, it was me. So, what? I had one question about something unclear. How much would I really put in pocket if I invested my time and money creating my blog on a disgusting subject to, eventually, get lucky when someone clicked the ad. Was it worth my effort?

Now there's lot of information and statistics about keywords, ranking, Adsense and every aspect of this business.

At that time, the term SEO was meaningless. So, to make this long story shorter, I decided to click my own ad. I had no intention of getting paid, honestly, I just wanted to check by myself if the promise was real. In my naive perspective, all I had to do was to click, check how much I got, and tell G that it was OK, I don't want that money, I was just testing...

Hard to believe, right? But it's true. I've always been innocent, stupid may be, but with good intentions. Many years after, I'm still convinced that I had no intention to commit fraud.

The lesson I learned is this: “The moment you think you got it figured, you're wrong.”

OK, now what?

I have been in goog terms with Big G, paying my Adwords ads, my Drive extra storage, my GCP servers, and other stuff, an average $200/month. Good value. I'm happy.

But they will never let me go back to Adsense. Period.

This may happen to you if you don't play by the rules, no matter what your intentions might be.

So, as you can see, I'm spreading Big G's warning, and teaching people how G wants them to behave, even though I know I will never be forgiven.

Why am I confessing my sin to WA?

It's my real story. I've been punished and I'm marked forever. But this is who I am. We all make mistakes, good if we learn something from them, bad if you blame G for the consequences...

600 words already. (to be continued...)

This is a sad story but thanks for putting this public. If you did not share this I may be doing what you did in the next days. That thing has been in my mind but the time did not only come. Now it will never come.
My question is that what if it was accidentally done, will Google give a warning or once is enough?

Thanks for your positive comment, Jimmy.
They never gave me a warning neither a second chance.
I just want to point out that they had no issue taking $400 for my first Adwords campaign afterward, even though I doubt of the quality of the clicks I got. Not their problem, right?

Google is a tyrant. With absolute power.

They just laugh at Spiderman's Uncle Ben.

hahaha you're right, Phil

So much for freedom of speech. I think this is wrong. Perhaps if you discuss this situation with Kyle you may be able to lift that ban.

How? Is this possible? Anyway, I don't mind, mainly because if I decided to create an Adsense blog, I could ask any partner to use their account for generating income as a proof of earnings for flipping the website at a higher price.

Wait till the site is seeing a mountain of traffic and go with Mediavine, who needs Adsense anyway LOL.

Thanks for including the link to my recent blog, and your kind write up, most appreciated.

Thanks to you, Heidi.
Cheers

Hope things work out.

Too bad that happened, but thanks for letting us know what to watch out for. - shirley

Thanks, Shirley! It's over now, but I'm grateful for the lesson.
Cheers

Sorry that you got punished. I have read of those instances where someone is punisher for supposedly breaking the rules and then being reinstated but it looks as if you case is different without any recourse. Good luck.
Jerry

Thanks, Jerry. Don't feel sorry. It opened my eyes to better possibilities ;-)
Cheers

Thank you for the warning!!
If I had Adsense, I would've clicked on it just to see if it was working.... LOL
Shaunna

I'm glad you know now. Beware of BIG G! LOL
Cheers

i tried it also - but did it in incognito mode.. I have a credit there - It works so I won't try it again...

There was no incognito at that time, lol how old I am!

Thanks for sharing. We share in your punishment as when one of the WA family gets hurt we all feel it and try to profit by their error.

Takes a lot to publically admit our mistakes.

Thanks for your comment, Barry.
I'm not hurt. I've learned a lesson. At that time I was angry and frustrated, now I can share the positive aspect of that experience. The drama queen is just acting ;-)
Cheers

No lo sabia! Pero adivino tu intencion...
No cambies! Jajaja

English, please! We are neighbors and friends, but this is my post. Lazy old man! Need help? hahahaha

Thank you for the warning. It is well heeded here. I’m sorry that you had to find out this way.

I have learnt enough lessons on my own this year, I’m glad not to have to learn this one.

You're welcome, Heidi! But, once again, no need to be sorry. I'm just acting a little drama... I smile and I move on.
Cheers

Sorry about that. Learn and move on. There are always other opportunities

Hi, Joy! Thanks for your comment. Don't be sorry! I have moved on many years ago. I'm happy. I just wanted to continue with my previous post BTW, you are a musician... what say u? ;-)
I'm following you now.
