It seems you are going down my Christmas Memory Lane, Peter.

But did you know there was a second version of "It's A Wonderful Life"? I have just now tried to find it and can't though. It was released in 1947 if I remember correctly, definitely before 1950. But it had a female lead. Absolutely everything else was the same, except maybe the other actors. They might have been different also. But the set, the story, the dance in the school gym where the floor opened up and dropped the dancers into the pool below. It was Gender-Flipped for the lead role. I don't remember who the lead was. But it was just as good, but different as Jimmy Stewart's version.

I had no idea. Interesting. If you do find it, please let us know. That's one I'd be interested in seeing.
Thanks for the info.

Will do, RitaAnn.

Could it have been, The Bells of St. Mary's, Jay?

I really don't think so, Mel.

Every single thing except the lead and maybe the other actors was "It's A Wonderful Life". All the way down to the gym floor opening up during the high school dance and dumping everyone in to the pool below. And where Donna Reed jumped into the bushes after that happened. It was the Female Lead that jumped into the bushes.

I will keep looking. Chatty and Perplexity couldn't find it either.

Way before my time, but I didn't know there were two versions. It would be great to see the other version if you ever come across it.

I have looked, used three different AIs, and only found a question about it on a Sci-Fi/Fantasy webpage where the gut asking decided it was a different movie. That thread was several years old and closed. So I couldn't say anything on it.

I will keep looking, Peter.

You know, I don't think I have ever fully watched this. Bits and pieces I'm sure.
I will have to finally do it this year. So many people speak highly of it.

6

Since you've never watched it be sure to bring tissues; you'll need them. :-)

Thanks for the warning, I need to be in the right mood for something that is cry worthy.

For Best results wait until it snows and you're snowed in: grab snuggle blankets, tissues, lots of hot chocolate, marshmallows and chocolate bars *for hot chocolate of course lol add christmasy snacks like peppermint bars, cookies, pies and cakes too. Yea, it's just how it's done. giggle.

Then you also have to pair this with Anne of Green Gables for the win.
:-)

When my daughter was little, the neighborhood girls would walk down when it snowed so we could all make this a tradition.
Everyone is grown and out in the world with their own traditions and family and I miss those times so much.

I have the memories and that in itself is worth the cry. :-)

Hugs!

Sounds like some wonderful memories.

Unfortunately I am not going to find any snow in Australia šŸ˜‚ Cookies and cake could happen though. šŸ™‚

Wait! LOL This is a chick flick. Guys won't appreciate the Anne of Green Gables movies like the girls will... more like love stories.

However, what I do love is how Anne was an orphan and unexpected, make fun of, bullied, treated wrongly by so many and she overcame.

Her story is one of overcoming all the obstacles throughout her life *guys can glean from this part if you get past the girly parts. LOL

She thrives because her hide away was reading books.
She thrives because she was creative.
She thrives because she is real, empathetic, kind, loving, expression able.

It's one of my all time favorites because we as humans can relate to her hurts in so many ways. If only we could all get right back up dust ourselves off and move towards our dreams as Anne did, there would be nothing stopping any of us.

Okay, maybe the guys should watch it too. *wink.

This page is a great place to add your thoughts after you watch it.

Heck, I may go do that right now for nastalgia sake. There's snow outside on the ground, yea, sounds like the thing to do even without the kids, the chocolate or the being stuck.

RitaAnn~
...going for the remote to find Anne of Greene Gables for a good blanket movie. NOT gonna cry, not gonna cry. :-)

I'm here cheering you on.
Cookies!
Cake!
Chocolate too!
There's no snow, well dang and poo!
Eat those cookies,
Eat that cake,
Find the ones that say "no bake"!
Gooooooo Elyta!

That's hilarious! šŸ˜‚

1

I believe my superpower may just be ... silliness. :-)
Not according to my kids though.

2

We all need some silliness in our lives at times.

2

Well then, sounds like a decent plan to me.
63 yrs. old and I've died 3x's in my life. I'm now thinking after my death on Thanksgiving two years ago that having a fun sense of humor is really what keeps me healthy.

Silliness = freedom in my book.

My friend many years ago would tell a joke and she would get so tickled at herself that she just giggled and giggled. Much of this wasn't all that funny to me until she got tickled with herself and couldn't stop laughing.

This was her superpower!
She would have me and anyone else around her laughing even though the joke itself wasn't funny at all.

For some time even though I thought she was so funny, I felt there was just too much being silly and that being 'of sound mind' was much more the way I should act; so I did for years.

This last death did something to me; I realized I'm missing out on life being concerned about what other people thought.

I'll tell ya, it's much easier to enjoy life a little.

Now I'm not a joke teller, I can't ever remember how the jokes go, but, if I think something is funny now, I give the whole belly roll without thought of outer influences.

I laugh with a full heart and if it's funny enough for a giggle, I'm in.

Hugs!
