Hey there W.A. friends. I decided to write a post today regarding A.I. tools.

It feels like it's impossible to avoid promotions regarding "automatically" generated A.I. content right now. From email blasts to online advertising, it's everywhere you look.

In this blog post, I'll dive into three ways I believe A.I. writing tools are changing the internet as we know it...

But first let me explain my journey with A.I. tools.

My Personal Journey With A.I. Tools

If you haven't already read my post on how A.I. has changed my life, you can read it here.

I've been making a full-time income since May of this year, mainly due to the power of A.I.

This month of December, I will have earned more simply writing articles online than I ever did having a full-time job in the "real world."

It's mind-boggling, to be honest. I've recently hired an assistant to help me with specific tasks, which is also a first.

I'm grateful to be able to wake up, write, and be creative every day. It's enjoyable and rewarding to learn about new topics, write about them, and know they'll be posted on the internet somewhere to help readers.

...But I Lost My Path

That said, what I'm doing now differs from the path I was traveling at the start of 2022. In fact, in some ways, I've digressed.

How so?

Well, at the start of 2022, I was focused entirely on the blog I created here in WA. And while I beat myself up for a little while because I was thrown off "my path," I'm okay with it.

I'm learning how to balance priorities. And I know my blog will be a significant part of my life again soon.

It still is, but it's not at the forefront of my life as it was before...and that's okay - cause I'm learning.

A.I. Is The Clay - YOU Are The Sculptor

Back to A.I.

I use it every single day to write various kinds of content. It helps with brain fog, writer's block, speed, efficiency, grammar, and creativity.

Now, I use A.I. the way it SHOULD be used. At least, that's what I believe.

I would NEVER use A.I. to randomly generate a piece of content and post it onto the internet. No, no, no!

I've used various software tools that claim to be able to do this, but most suck. I use only one tool daily, and I 100% believe in it.

But I also want to stress that no matter what A.I. tool someone uses, remember this:

  • A.I. is the clay
  • YOU are the sculptor

I heard someone say that in a YouTube video, and I loved it because it's true.

That said, right now is a weird time cause everywhere I look, I see A.I. being advertised.

And while there are lots of positives to using A.I. software to help you develop fresh content, and I could write a whole separate article on that topic alone, I want to discuss the downsides I see in it right now as we close out 2022.

1 - Everyone Is Promoting A.I. Now - And It's 🤮

Affiliate marketers everywhere are now leveraging the convenience of artificial intelligence content creation.

It's impossible to ignore this, especially those of you here in W.A. who are learning all about affiliate marketing and are prime targets.

I wake up to emails about A.I. every morning, and what do I do?

DELETE

The amount of A.I. promotion is getting really bad right now.

A.I. can do everything, from creating video courses to writing books, brushing your teeth, combing your hair, cooking dinner, and taking you out to the movies.

The problem with this overwhelming amount of A.I. advertising is the same problem we have with the entire "make money online" niche.

The high quantity of advertisements makes it difficult for customers to discern trustworthy sources from scammy ones. Additionally, the high amount of ads can play on people's inclination towards FOMO (fear of missing out).

This leads to disappointment and frustration and ultimately leaves customers with a bad taste of affiliate marketing.

And what's worse, it makes A.I. look about as trashy as most "make money online" products advertised by shady marketers.

2 - People Have The Wrong Idea Of What A.I. Tools Do

I had the wrong idea about what A.I. tools can do when I started using them.

I used a few and even explored some free trials - after all, there are tons of A.I. content writing tools out there. And after "generating blog posts" to see how it could help my health and fitness blog, I realized something:

This A.I. tool generates robotic-looking text and doesn't read the way I would speak or write.

So, I knew A.I. wasn't for me, which was a shame cause I thought it would be a great time saver, and I wouldn't have to rely on hiring Fiverr content writers any longer.

But then, one day, I stumbled upon another tool (the one I currently use), and it DID change my life, as it now provides me with a full-time living.

But, there was a learning curve. I'm STILL learning efficient ways to use it.

And the biggest thing I've learned is this:

  • A.I. tools do NOT write FOR you.

YOU are the brain behind any content you publish on the internet. The most an A.I. tool can do for you is help you craft creative and informative content, but YOU have to instruct it on exactly what you want to do.

You are the guide. As stated earlier, you're the sculptor, and the A.I. assistant is just the clay.

So, anyone who purchases an A.I. tool, assuming it's just going to publish random content to the internet is not using A.I. software ethically in my opinion.

It can save you a ton of time, but you, and only YOU, are always the ultimate decision-maker on the content published on the internet.

This leads to my final point.

3 - Humans Still Need To Revise Facts

As I mentioned above, it's up to YOU to post anything on the internet that is written by you or by an A.I. software.

I'll tell you the biggest downside my software has. It's not always factually accurate.

It does a fantastic job of pumping out beautifully creative and helpful content, but it sometimes needs to be corrected regarding facts.

For instance, I may be writing about facts about forklifts. If my A.I. tool mentions any numbers, percentages, dates, or anything else that requires fact-checking, I absolutely head to Google and double and triple-check.

A.I. is still just A.I.

It is imperfect, and if you're going to publish anything on the internet to help others find answers to their problems, then what you post must be factually accurate and researched.

And while A.I. generally does a great job with this, it's only sometimes 100% accurate.

So, again, fact-checking, revising, and editing is always the job of the human. That means you.

Making sure your article is helpful to your audience is only up to you. Making sure it's 100% plagiarism free is also your job.

A.I. Tools Taking Over The Internet: In Closing

So, that's my perspective on A.I. tools.

They can be absolutely helpful in content writing, and when used the right way, they can truly change your life.

They're capable of speeding up the content writing process, and can help with creativity and writers' block.

But they cannot replace YOU, the human.

And with the insane amount of affiliate marketers and advertisements promoting the "next best A.I. software", it's making my head spin, and putting a really bad taste in my mouth.

Maybe it's cause I do use A.I. every single day, and it's annoying to see how it's being advertised online, with misleading claims that are very similar to lots of other scammy products affiliate marketers try to convince people to buy.

I guess it's just the world we live in.

I've been meaning to write this article for a few weeks, so I'm glad I got to it now.

I hope you found this info helpful, and if you've got any questions, just let me know.

Thanks for reading!

Good to hear from you again Paul and a very interesting read!

I agree that AI tools can assist us if used correctly, but can't replace us!!

Have a fantastic New Year my friend and much continued success for the future!

Glad you found it interesting.

The key is - if used correctly...

And absolutely, they cannot replace us.

Thanks for the comment, and hope you have a fantastic New Year and much success too!

Much appreciated Paul! Take care my friend!

Hi, Paul

I sometimes use AI to generate content outlines, but I agree it generates frequent errors.

I know my niche inside out, which makes it easy to spot incorrect info, so it is a time saver.

For those starting in an unfamiliar niche, AI fact checking may become time prohibitive.

What AI tool are you using?

Frank

Hey Frank -

When you say content outlines, do you mean an outline to focus a blog post around? I create outlines often as well, and it's especially useful when I don't know exactly what I want to discuss.

I've learned that the more you know your niche, the better your instructions into AI software can be, meaning the more detailed and specific the results you'll get.

Of course, I'm not sure if this is the case with all A.I. tools, I use Jsper, and that's how it works for me, and I'm constantly learning new ways to use templates and create more interesting and unique content.

As far as what you say about those in an unfamiliar niche having to fact check - well, even in a niche that you know very well, there are some cases where it's a good idea to double check

Let's say the AI software spits out some very specific percentage....like, 78% of all consumers in the United States shopped on their mobile devices in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Well, I'd do a quick Google search to ensure that statistic is correct.

I have to write on new topics that are foreign to me each day, so I've just gotten used to fact-checking. You're right, it does take a little extra time, but it's worth it to ensure the reader is getting accurate info.

Hi, Paul

Yes, I use AI and Google FAQs to give me H1and H2 heading ideas and then write the content on my own words.

I do fact check here and there, but I’ve been playing, teaching, and building guitars for about 50 years, so I can spot factually incorrect content from a mile away!

Right now, I use OpenAI.

Frank

Ah, building guitars, that's awesome! I need to check out your site - I'm a guitarist too - I have about 14 guitars lol - I think I've lost count.

I've never heard of OpenAI - but if that's working for you, then great.

Hi, Paul

Great that you're a guitar player! I've been at it for a while, so I have sixty-six guitars at last count. I keep them all out on stands so I can play a different one each day.

I've played Rock, Metal, Jazz, Fusion, and a little bit of Country. My guitar site is listed on my profile. Let me know what you think of it.

OpenAI dot com is where I have been accessing ChatGPT to build my content outlines.

Frank 🎸

Hey Frank - wow - 66 guitars - that's awesome. I just went to your site. It's super informative. I was reading through the article about how many guitar pedals you need as a beginner guitarist.

Wow, you've got EVERYTHING covered in there, with charts and explanations for just about everything, from different amp types, coils on the guitar, different genre setups, etc...

I'd actually use your site to help me set up my next set of pedals too. I've got a lot, but I'm also planning to strip down my pedalboard to the essentials (delay, reverb, distortion).

I found a lot of the information in the article interesting, and learned some things I didn't even know. How long did it take you to write that?

Hi, Paul

Thank You! I'm thrilled you like my guitar site, especially as a player yourself!

I write posts in little pieces, mostly on my iPhone, when I'm out and about. Later, I put it all together and add the photos, etc. I make most of my photos on Canva.

All together, it probably took me about a day to do everything for the article you read.

It would be awesome if you could download the free 54-page eBook that I give away as a lead magnet. I'd love to get your opinion in it's contents!

Smaller pedalboards do have their advantages. I have some huge pedalboards that I play thorough that sound best with guitars that have active pickups, like EMGs, to drive the board without loosing tone.

Have a great New Year's Eve and an Excellent 2023! 🎉🥂
Let's keep in touch and keep on Rockin'! 🤘
Frank 😎🥂

Sounds good Frank - I was actually gonna ask about your photos too, and forgot...Canva is amazing for that. Yes, I'll download the book and definitely let you know what I think.

You have a great New Year's Eve and awesome 2023 too!

Thanks for leaving a comment on my site, Paul! 😎

I'll look forward to your assessment of my ebook!
Frank 🎸

Thanks for sharing your perspective on this. There certainly is a lot of talk about it these days.

No prob - yes there there certainly is an abundance of talk about it - especially in the last month or so it seems

Haha. Good one, Paul! A compelling post, indeed, ! Keep succeeding!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff - I appreciate it.

You're very welcome, Paul!

Jeff

Nice post PT. I tend to agree with you: AI writing tools are great for helping overcome writers block and building content.

But you are correct when you say that you have to add your own voice to the text that is generated and always fact-check it too!

AI is great at sounding authoritative, but won't be so helpful when you get called out for writing untruths on your blog!!

All the best for 2023.

Matt

Yep - for sure it helps with overcoming writers block - and I had to learn about the fact checking sort of the hard way...because a client mentioned some inconsistencies from facts about a forklift...as in my example.

And I realized - oh wow - even though this software writes beautifully, any little detail that requires a fact check, must be fact-checked. And since then, I always do.

Thanks for the comment and all the best in 2023 to you too.
