Transferring a Site to Your Domain at Wealthy Affiliate
Many members come to Wealthy Affiliate after they've already started site(s) on another host - and they'd like to take advantage of the free hosting at WA. Here's a way to transfer your old site to WA, pictures, plugins, and all.
Check with Support First
It's my understanding that Wealthy Affiliate has some limitations on which plugins they will accept, so it may be a good idea to contact Support first. Send them a list of your plugins and theme(s) to make sure they are acceptable before transferring them. Delete anything illegal, immoral, or fattening before starting the transfer process ;)
Having said all the above, here's one of my funky links that will take you to a comment with directions to use Duplicator to move your site. Check out https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/getting-started/am...
Note that you can even move your site from yourolddomain.com to yournewdomain.org - changing the URL is OK. The plugin will deal with changing all the internal URLs.
Big warning!
Note that if you change your URL as indicated above, you will have to create redirects to ensure all traffic to yourolddomain.com finds its way to yournewdomain.org. The plugin can only deal with correcting internal links (within your site structure), it cannot modify or redirect existing inbound links from the old domain name to the new domain name.
Best of luck with it!
Dennis

I would like to try this on a site I currently have hosted on GoDaddy. I want to move it to WA now. It is a sort of static site, and I don't know what the theme is because it was created through the GoDaddy website builder. Will I still be able to transfer it?
Hi Debbie!
Unfortunately, the Duplicator plugin only 'fits' in WordPress sites. I'm not familiar with the site structure GoDaddy's website builder makes, so can't really address the best way to transfer the old site - or even if the SiteRubix system is capable of accepting a site built at GoDaddy :\
Your best bet may be to create a new WordPress site (http://yoursite.siterubix.com ), then cut the text for each page from the old site and paste it into a corresponding new page on the new WordPress site. Similarly download and import all the pictures for those pages / posts.
Once your new WordPress site is ready for prime time, go to GoDaddy and point the nameservers to the WA servers. Finally, transfer the http://yoursite.siterubix.com site to your old domain name, with the newly changed WA nameservers.
There may be some custom features from the GoDaddy site builder you have to reconstruct, but other than that you should be good to go!

I think you're right. I'll just have to cut & paste! Fortunately, there is not a lot of content there :)
Glad to hear you're back on the road again Tim.
The day is coming you'll be able to hang up your spurs for good - and not due to sick leave! I'm looking forward to hearing you've been successful ramping up your site(s) income, and driving falls away as your chosen occupation!

Greetings Ron!
Glad to hear you may find use for the information in the blog.
Best of luck in your efforts here at WA!
