I have 3 comments from a website that seems to be a conglomerate of articles from my website and other similar sites. The comments are just a link to their site. I did not appr

I agree, delete them always.

I would be afraid to try them.

I would delete them too.

I would delete them as spam.

Thanks for the replies. Do you think I should do anything about them putting my posts on their website?

You don't have to do anything because when they posted your article on their site, they also cited the owner of the article which is you. So, from my perspective, they're not doing anything wrong. Take action only when they don't credit you as the owner.

Hope this helps =)

That's what I thought. Thanks for confirming!

You're most welcome =)

Blogs post other peoples' articles all the time. You should feel great about that. They are giving you credit and by adding a link to your website for all their readers to see, now you have more opportunities for traffic.

That was my thought too.

you can either delete them as spam or edit the comment if its useful and remove their url link

The comments I receive like this go into my spam folder and I just delete them. If they go into your moderator area, just delete them. I get lots of these each day.

I noticed that my website name does not show up in the tab at the top of the computer when I'm on the site. The Favicon is there. Is it a setting that I missed somewhere?

Isee you got the problem taken care of.

If you fill in the site title in the appearance>customize section it should show up!
Ed

Done! It worked :)

Did you fill in your site title in the Appearance>Customize section?

Duh, no! I knew it was probably something simple that I missed :) Done now & it's working ~ THANKS!

I have an option for 2 menus on top, but I don't know the difference between the 2 labels.

I do not know either.

Thanks for the replies. Duh, I will check the help button at the top of the page :)

Marine mom is right. You can't believe how much info is available through the search box on the top of the page. You get answered instantly too. Can't beat that. Good luck

You have option for two menus. That means, you may have one primary menu at the top of the page below header and the other menu you may have at the footer or the sidebar depending on your theme. I hope it is clear to you.

Type in your question at the top of your page and you will locate information on the various menu topics which should help you out.

Authoring & Writing Content

I have removed all of my content from a site I had it on and it is empty now. I started a new site and want to put up the 100 or so articles that I wrote previously. Is it consi

I found a site that allowed me to de-index without having to verify that I am the webmaster. I did have to remove the articles first so the pages would be blank when Goggle checked it. If you need this tool it is: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals

I read the WebmastersTools article and I usually go for the most thorough and direct route, I agree with Daniel and his method for that efficacy in changing your site's content over to the new one.

If there is a way to restore the old website, I'd do it. This way, you will be able to redirect each article from the old website to the new one, on which you add the articles.

Do this one at a time as you add the articles to the new site. If you don't know how to redirect content, it's not hard. Do the restoration first if you can.

Redirection, if done correctly, tells Google that you have moved your content and you will not get hammered with duplicate content. Leave the old site up for however long it takes for the de-indexing for the content on the old site to take place, and then you can safely take it down.

Steve is right. You will now have to wait for de-indexing. No telling how long this takes. I've seen my own articles still indexed a month after having removed them!

If you have any back-ups of the old site, restore the site and you will have redirection to work with. If you can do this, it will be your quickest way to re-using the articles and not have to rewrite all of them or wait for Google.

I would use the url removal tool in Webmaster Tools to remove the old urls the content was in before putting it in another site.

Unfortunately, I have no control over the old site anymore. I was an affiliate site to an International site (Escape Artist) and they went bankrupt. I immediately pulled all of my content from my Panama page, and a couple days later all of the country sites were blocked from their admin access! They are currently in receivership and who knows what will happen. My content is my intellectual property, so I set up my own site (#1 reason for joining WA was to learn how to do this and monetize it, because there were indications of a corporate problem a few months ago) and now I want to re-post the 100 or so articles I've already written. So, I won't be able to do the re-direct. Wish I could! I will try the Webmaster url remover tool and look into de-indexing. I know it will take a while to get my ranking back up, but at least I have articles. Maybe I'll 'tweek' them a little to make them slightly different...Thanks everyone!

In that case, retweeking and checking in a Plagiarism Checker would be your option.

Thanks

Meanwhile, you can create new content whilst you wait. Good thing you did capture all of your content before the business tanked!

That is what I'll end up doing. I can't see corporate admin going in and de-indexing for me. Even if they somehow start the page back up, it probably helps their rank and they don't want to give that up.

It needs to be de-indexed from Google before you can reuse it. There may be a way to do this manually but I cannot tell you for sure.
