Ambition

I have always been ambitious and it has caused some grief along life's path. I have found that people with big dreams have big hearts and a huge capacity for work. I have even been accused of being a perfectionist, a workaholic and one of my children even suggested that I annoyed them because "everything you do you do well". Fortunately or unfortunately I was brought up by a father that said "if you don't work you don't eat" and that made a n indelible impression on me as a young child. I am sure my Dad knew all about that subject having been through a war, and a depression, where food was at a premium. No jobs therefore no money to buy what little food there was, standing in line at the soup kitchen to get a feed, so I guess I was well educated in the work ethic which served me well with 6 and then 7 children to support on my own. Ambitious people are often criticised by people who are not living their dream, do not know how to go about achieving their own dreams, or do not have the get up and go to do so or are just plain lazy wanting everything tipped into their lap without any effort on their part. Life is not like that - you only get out of life what you put in and the more you put in the more you get in return. These people who criticise you while you are climbing your mountain love to boast, once you get there, and are all too keen to acknowleldge that they know or knew you. Has it inspired them to get off their derryaire and do the same thing? sadly most of the time no - they would prefer to sit and criticse or whinge and whine about the bad hand life has dealt them. The opportunities are there for all who dare. Ambitious people have ideals but those ideals change as their goals change, the mountains get higher, and the further you grow along the road to success the more there is to conquer.. We start off with wanting just enough to pay the bills - then it is a car or a house and then it is holidays etc and on and on it goes. Life is a journey and nothing breeds success like success and mixing with like minded people bouncing ideas and thoughts off one another - helping one another. Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won't so that they can spend the rest of their life like most people can't. Anything worthwhile takes time, patience, dedication, perspiration, trial and error and a lot of pure hard grind but in the end all that pain and heartache, making mistakes, learning new avenues to apply will pay off in the end and those of us that have been fortunate enough to land here at Wealthy Affiliate have the whole world at our feet and I for one am going to grab this wonderful opportunity to achieve my goals, dreams and aspirations and if I can do it at my age when time is really limited for me, the buck stops with me - I am the only one that can reach the goals I have set for myself How much more can the younger generation set themselves up beautifully for the future with just a little W O R K. Everything has a price and if the price of your success comes at the expense of a social life for a short time it is well worth the effort but only YOU can do this for yourself - no one else knows what goes on inside your head - no one else knows what your aspirations, dreams and goals are so the buck stops with you - You have to do the work and if you do the rewards will come. They will not come overnight as I see some people expecting but they will come.

Coming from the lessons of life you have lived and living. So inspiring. My big thing in staying focus without wondering in to many directions to accomplish one goal at a time. Right now trying to accomplish three goals while working and learning to divide my time to accomplish the dream. But the dream is is journey as well as you know.
My mother said I was an explorer like her and my father was. Still much to do and places to see. I've raised my kids and all of them very independent with a strong work ethic themselves.

Well since my kids have all abandoned me I have to focus on my future as there is nothing that I can do about history. Having raised my kids by myself mostly they have turned out pretty well. they all have their own business entities and all the grandchldren have or are attending private Christian schools and some are at Uni and they are all financially secure with of them a multi millionaire and 2 are pastors so I must have something right somewhere along the line

Part of your legacy and in your gene pool your children and grandchildren. 2 pastors of what kind of denomination...that shows they are service oriented.

We are Penticostal - I was actually doing my ministry degree back in 1992 when I was called back into business. My Christianity is very down to earth in that I believe that there are kings and priests and the kings have to earn the money to allow the priests to do their work which is to take care of the widows and orphans, feed the hungry, and house the poor and above all we must love one another.
It is sad that my first husband with whom I had 6 children, aged between 9 down to 11 months, only came to see them maybe twice a year although he never missed his maintenance payments but he is now the one who has all the access and travels all over with the sons and grandsons. I get a bit miffed every now and again if I allow myself to dwell on it as I taught the boys to drive, bought their first cars and transported them all over the place for their sports.
I supported two husbands - the first one so that he could get his education and the second one so that he could go into business so I will not be doing it a third time.
I support a ministry online and I donate to the Saving Moses Christian organisation that provides formula for babies in third world countries. I am also a Zonta International club member which is a women's advocacy group and a Lions Club member. My day always starts with a 1/2 hour Christian program and as I am up at 5.15am it is a long day and I work all day most days. I then am ready for bed at 8.30 and read for 1/2 hour. I grow my own produce and have my animals so I am far from lonely - in fact I do not know what the word means. We always have something we can do for others regardless of our circumstances. Where are you located?
Cheers

I agree Carol.

Ambition is what keeps our life going. Your point of view is right and I share the same thought. :)

Thank you Carol for putting your thoughts down for us to read. You have hit some of my, ever present, nerves with your insights. Age, WAs encouragement and only I know what is going on in my mind. You could have plucked them out of my brain! Very nice to connect with someone who feels similarly. Take care.

Hi Carol and thanks for an insight into your thoughts, it was really interesting.

May I just suggest something to you? Please take this in the way it is intended, which is to help...when writing something as long as this, it is a good idea to break it down into smaller chunks of information with white space between, (as in small paragraphs.)

The reason for this is that people have a short attention span and a big block of text can make them mentally 'switch off' and go to the next post. This will also help you with your content writing for your site. If you already know this, then I apologise in advance! :)

Thanks for the encouraging words Carol. I agree, see where you want to be + work = success :) Caroline

You are most welcome and if there is anything I can do to help you along the way please let me know
Carol

I enjoyed reading your post Carol - Thanks :)
And as you say - you are the only one that can reach your goals - and that goes for everyone who wants to be successful. In other words, no pain, no gain!

HI Valerie-Joy - as usual it is lovely to hear from you ad thank you for your comments - wasn't sure whther anyone would read it as I have been absent for a few weeks
Carol
