Read The Rules!
Telling you the obvious does not help!!
Life is about trying new things and going to places that you have not visited before. You are hopeful that people will when you are stuck give you helpful advice and not state the PAINFULLY obvious.
If you have got a nasty gash with blood gushing out, you do not need someone to tell you that " you need stitches in that!"
I have asked a number of questions on the WA Live Chat and have always been pleased with the high quality, useful answers that I have received. I felt like I was reaching out to helpful, knowledgeable fellow members. An internet marketing related concern came up today and I thought to myself " Mark, the Live Chat will give you the answer". So I posted my question which related to the rules of another forum that I had just joined.
The "helpful" reply that I got from a member of WA was "Read the rules". It felt a bit like going to the garage and telling the mechanic that my car had a fault and him telling me to read the car manual to find out how to fix it. I decided to take the "helpful" advice and read the rules. They were very vague on what is or is not permitted.
Content could be removed, edited or redacted at the discretion of the site managers. It would appear that you learn what the unwritten rules are as you go along.... I had hoped that the " helpful" member would have recognized this and answered my specific question. If I had been a new member of WA I might well have considered seriously whether I wanted to stay part of this community.
If you can help someone then please do as they will really appreciate it :)
Please don't suggest to them that they should read the rules!!!

I was in chat last night and a new member asked a question. A person in chat made a pretty nasty comment about asking questions before taking the course. I was really surprised and left a pm for the member about the nasty comment. A couple of people had to encourage the new guy to stay with WA. I had never experience anything like that. I was really surprised. Why are people being like this?
I was really disappointed when I looked up the member who had made the very unhelpful comment. The person is in the top 100 ranking and has been a member for a long time. I would love to name them but feel it would be inappropriate. I think that all members questions should be treated with respect and dignity.
I really hope your experience does not discourage you or anyone else from the live chat area. I've used live chat on a number of occasions both as teacher and student. I hope this doesn't happen to you again. We are all here to help. If you ever need anything feel free to PM me. I'm always happy to help. Alanna
I haven't been on Live Chat in ages, but have generally found that members try really hard to help.
But it often amazes me that people don't seem to realize that anything they write online is like being an advertisement - good or bad - for themselves and whoever they represent.
I totally agree. My previous experience had been very favourable and I really thought that it would be today. I am fortunate that I am a long standing member and feel that my voice will be heard. New members are not in this position.
