The power of updating your content
It's been a while that I've written a blog, but that's basically because I was checking something out in February. It's a new month and I thought about sharing a couple of things that might help your website out as well.
By the way, next month will be my first year anniversary for my blog! Yihaaaa!
That was just a little side note ;). Anyway, last month I crossed the barrier of a 100 articles on my website. (Currently I'm at 112!), which got me thinking it was about time to look at all the content that I'm having and looking how much traffic they are driving.
It looks like my article about ACV gummies is still on top of my list, driving in about 40% of the traffic. Surprising for an article that I actually didn't spend a lot of time writing. Anyway, I've talked about this article a bit already and how it got me driving in more and more traffic after looking which keywords I was ranking for within this article. You can read more about it right here.
I went down a bit further in my analytics page to see which pages are actually not doing that great. And to my surprise my article about budget yoga retreats in Europe wasn't doing all that well. Which was really a bit of a shock to me as Jaaxy says there is little competition and a high demand.
Nobody was reading the article at all. I got to WordPress and took a look at the article. And there it was, I could already see from miles away what the problem was. Even though it has a good length (1.600 words), it was filled with typos! It was one of my first articles, so I was more focused on getting to a lengthy article, rather than a readable one.
I started fixing the errors and cleaning up the whole lay-out, headers changed, broken links removed and two new retreats added to it. Suddenly I have 2.400 words, a nice lay-out and the retreats are up to date!
An important thing you've got to do as well is to make sure you re-index your page in google search console, as this will effect your content and indexing.
One day later I already had two people organically looking at my article. Tadaaaaa!
Now, the things that I've noticed in a nutshell are these:
- Google likes updated material, so make sure you do it regularly!
- Updating your article, means that you'll have more words written, more words = more keywords = better ranking
- Google sees typos and broken links as weed, they can make a beautiful garden look nasty, so better weed those links and correct your language!
That's about it for this blog again! Soon I might do an update on my progress, as next month I'll be blogging for a whole year already!

Hi Virendra, I spent some time yesterday updating my posts. Was surprised when I found some broken links and outdated sales pages. Always a good idea to stay on top of things.
Thanks for the share,
Michael
It sure is! I know it's hard when you have a lot of articles, but sometimes it just takes about half an hour to update an article, making it rank again or better on google. So definitely worth it!
