Strategic Content writing for SEO
I'm often asked about how to write content that pulls traffic. Before creating your website, think about the structure. Write down the topics you feel you want to cover.
Learn your audience!
This will take a bit of research. Discover what your chosen niche market is all about. Peruse the social media platforms and learn what drives your audience. What are their pain points and how can you help them.
I always come from a teaching perspective on this. This is my chosen approach. To me, it's just "good karma". :-)
I'm writing this blog post not for any kind of credit, but simply to give back. To help others succeed and tweak their blog posts or website and make it better. It's what's good for the Wealthy Affiliate community as a whole. Helping each other.
Okay, enough of that. Sorry, I digress.....
So, this is about how to structure your website and build a WordPress blog that you can be proud of and gains SEO traffic.
SEO can be a daunting topic. But, once you get the nuts and bolts of it down, it becomes second nature.
As I mentioned, research is key - and we have some great tools available for this. One of your must have tools though is paper and pen!
Write down some things. Adjust what you recorded and write it again if you feel the need. But, begin with a site title. Make it keyword rich.
Use the WA keyword tool or Jaaxy.
You're looking for a keyword that has high search volume and low competition. This should always be your goal when performing keyword research.
Then, after you have a site title. Do the same for your chosen pages.
Also, i do the same for each blog post!
This is all known as on-page SEO.
But, don't get too hung up on the acronyms here..... yes, it should be incorporated within your content.
Write for your readers....but, try to keep on-page SEO tactics in mind.
Many bloggers I have seen either write for their readers only OR write for SEO only. Both of these are the wrong way to go. Do your keyword research first, then write for your readers, but incorporate the keywords as you can without losing what you are trying to convey.
This will take practice, but when you master it, you will learn how to carefully implement a content marketing strategy that is both cohesive to readers AND to the search engines at the same time. This is the epitome of fantastic, shareable content.
Discover the "long-tail" keyword and work it in naturally.
Also, don't try to cover everything within a single post. This isn't a good idea.
Focus on a single topic with each post and provide your readers with actionable content they can use immediately. Remember, we are in a "fast-food" society and we want content we can read easily and steps we can perform fast.
Use bulleted or numbered lists. How-to articles. As I have mentioned before, these work great for shareable content.
Space things out also. Don't write long paragraphs. Break it up like magazines and newspapers do. And, use an easy to read font.
On-page SEO includes keywords in
- Title tag
- Meta description
- Image alt tags
- URL
- Linking (internal/external)
- Videos (if you use any)
- H1, H2, H3 tags
