The Latest on My Romance Novel

I previously let you know about my impending Romance novel in https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/phil1944/blog/dont-judge-me-im-writing-a-romance-novel

so I thought I'd bring you up to date.

Just to clarify, although I'm a published author on Amazon, I'm not in the (highly profitable) Romance genre and this is purely a money-making venture for me,

So Far

I used ChatGPT to get three plotlines based on an existing Romance best-seller. You are welcome to ask me how I did that. There's a technique involved to find the most profitable ones to find.

I chose the one I liked best and gave it to a ghost writer to create the first two books in the series. Yes, to make serious money, you need a series. Think Harry Potter and 50 Shades, Movie rights? Sure, it's possible.

Because I'm really good at proof-reading and editing, I'm currently doing my own on the first book. Totally happy with it.

Got a designer off Fiverr to create a book cover for the whole series. I wasn't too happy with the first one, so got a second one, which was terrific. A minor cost at $30 each.

The Next Step

Once I have the first two books ready to go, it's going to be all about the promotion.

I'll make the first book available free, in order to get positive reviews and best seller status, the second at the no-brainer price of 0.99 and the rest of the series at normal prices, with the aim of selling around 10,000 copies.

So Much Fun

I have to admit that this whole process is a heap of fun.

Let me know if it's something you'd like to do.

I had no idea you’re such a romantic LOL, that is nice you can get it started. Diane and Catherine have been persuading me to try ChatGPT.I am just starting to try it see where it leads me. As an educator at local small college, we ban our students from using it. I don’t want to set a bad example to my students as Iam still teaching until May. After that I will have more time. Interesting how it gave you the plot idea. Thanks for sharing that.

I'd never dream of using it to write the story, but it did a pretty good job of creating 3 plotlines for me to select the one I liked best.

Bear in mind that this is purely a money-making, rather than a creative venture. Still fun though.

Ok. I got that.

Sounds like you are having a lot of fun. Getting in touch with your feminine side lol..don’t know if I told you this one…but my missus said she wanted me to get in touch with my feminine side….. so I drove the car down the highway at 40k, Then crashed the car on the way home and stopped talking to her for the rest of the week. Lol.
Enough of my bad humor…..

If I had time I would be interested in looking at this. Tell me though, are you personally spending a lot of time on this. I might be off kilter here, but it looks like you are organizing others to do the “grunt” work. Is that right….then you just put everything together….

Stephen

Yes, absolutely right. Using others to write the books and design the covers. My role is proof-read, edit and promote.

Ok, I will check out your training.
Thanks
Stephen

Thanks, Stephen. I'm yet to put the marketing/promotion plan together.

I have always wanted to write a kids book. As a teacher I think I might have a bit of a head start.
Stephen

Great ambition, Stephen. What age group would you be targeting?

I’m thinking 5 to 7 year olds, new readers. Where rhymes and fun come into play. Trying to turn the young reader on to reading.
Stephen

That's a great idea, Stephen. I think Amazon has a facility to create a board book through KDP, but you'd need to research that.

Sorted... lol

Phil is rocking it, guys - you've got this down pat- Phil. I am glad it is working out so far - may this lead to a successful series

PS: I would love to know the designer you used if at all possible (via PM). The last three I used werent that good at all. Thanks in advance

You're welcome, Chris. I've sent you a PM. She was the second one I tried.

Hello Phil!
Wow! ... Look at YOU!
I am happy and proud that you are doing this!

I will take you up on the following:
"I used ChatGPT to get three plotlines based on an existing Romance best-seller. You are welcome to ask me how I did that. There's a technique involved to find the most profitable ones to find."

Yes, tell me more, and yes, I want that first free book!
(wish we could use italics in these replies!)
Corinne

Hi Corinne, nice to hear from you.

I published some training on Amazon publishing: and In the second one (from memory) I covered how to find a Romance novel to model and copied its link.

Then all I did was start a conversation with ChatGPT along the lines of "create a plotline similar to the one in [link]".

Then hit the Regenerate button twice so I had 3 to choose from.

When the time comes, I'll check with Kyle so see if I can give a link to the free book here on WA. I suspect not as it may be seen as self-promotion, free or not.

Interesting report, Phil. Will be interesting to see how this develops. Needless to say, I have a lifelong interest in writing novels.

Maybe it is time to work it into the schedule. With AI to help with the process, there would be some help.

Thanks for sharing your progress, and methods. With the first 2 already up and going, have you done any promotions, or are you going to do a big promotion for the series?
Sami

Thanks, Shelly. I'm still editing the first book and don't have a draft of the second yet. I'm about to start work on the marketing plan.
