Profit Potential in Zero Traffic Keywords

Niche marketers are constantly on the lookout for that elusive edge over their competitors. Trouble is, everyone else is doing the same thing, so once again you end up as just one of the crowd.

Any online entrepreneurial courses focused on generating traffic and profits will emphasize identifying low-competition, high-traffic keywords to incorporate into your content.

What often goes unmentioned is that approximately 15% of all searches are entirely new, meaning they are undiscovered keywords with zero traffic that haven't yet made their way into keyword research tools as viable targets.

Interestingly, you'll come across plenty of advice advocating for the pursuit of long-tail keyword phrases, which is precisely what zero-traffic keywords represent. The beauty of this strategy lies in the fact that these keyword phrases are incredibly specific, leading to exceptionally high conversion rates.

Numerous marketers have revealed that even when a keyword is initially labeled as having zero traffic, they still benefit from hundreds of searches each month. These numbers might not register significantly on keyword research tools, but they can accumulate into something truly remarkable for the success of your niche site.

Don't Be Deceived by Official Metrics

Many individuals rely excessively on keyword tools to guide their decision-making. However, these tools often lack real-time updates, and some keyword phrases emerge as new trends within a niche, which may not be reflected in the available data.

Google itself has disclosed that a significant 15% of all searches consist of entirely new phrases that have never been entered into their search engine before. Given the sheer volume of daily searches, this presents a substantial opportunity for niche targeting.

Language and search habits among people tend to evolve, leading to the emergence of new phrases while still retaining an underlying core concept. For instance, some still use the term "pay per click," but many have shifted to phrases like "Google ads," "search engine ads," or "paid ads." Similarly, someone searching for "social media marketing" might now be looking for "influencer marketing."

Moreover, most reports from these tools are based on averages rather than specific counts, potentially skewing the volume when comparing data over an entire year versus recent months.

There are alternative theories about the accuracy of such reporting and the reasons why search engines may not fully disclose search volume data. Thus, it's prudent to assume that phrases may have more search traffic than what is being indicated.

To identify potential zero-traffic keywords, it's advisable to employ a combination of tools, research, and your own creativity. By tapping into your creativity, you can go beyond the strategies employed by most of your competitors.

When evaluating metrics, shift your focus away from just volume and competition levels. Instead, explore alternative ways to express common concepts and delve into the specific needs and desires of your target audience.

While it's essential to maintain relevance to your niche topic, aim for the low-hanging fruit rather than highly competitive phrases. For example, if you wish to target a competitive phrase like "homemade dog treats," you'll encounter fierce competition and high search volume.

However, if you target a phrase like "all-natural healthy homemade dog treats," you'll notice that it registers as zero traffic with no competition. Nevertheless, it represents a very specific topic that people might be searching for in various ways.

This specificity is precisely why it may not appear in keyword tools. However, it holds substantial profit potential. Your audience is highly targeted, with a strong desire for their pets' well-being, fostering a sense of community among like-minded individuals willing to invest in their pets' health.

Furthermore, this topic offers a heap of content angles, whether it's instructing them on making hypoallergenic treats, managing their pet's weight, or addressing digestive issues.

Wow! Awesome advice. And I think it also speaks to a comment I heard quite some time ago...it had to do with incredibly tiny little niches where someone who had a passion for the topic of discussion was absolutely slaying it...what i think we forget sometimes is that it's a huge, huge world out there so, for example, a tiny niche like ' how to create your own fly-fishing flies' was earning some guy piles of dough...so yes let your creativity guide you and you just might find that you strike it rich in so doing...thanks so much for sharing this brilliant insight Phil...hope you're having a wonderful day!!!

Thanks, Grant. Inspirational!

Phil, I ❤️ this!

"Zero" does not mean 0.
We must keep that in mind.

There is also another "hidden" secret.

You can create your own keywords and traffic.
Take my tagline "Change Your Script" for example or "Strategy of Congruence".
They are slowly becoming keywords of interest.

Through branding and participation in group platforms and social media, you can create your success.

A great share!
Thank you.

Great thoughts, Cassi. And yes, I meant "reported as zero".

Thank you, Phil.

True. Some time ago, my best-selling was a keyword with no traffic! And I got the commission for some years.

Sounds like a great case study, Johann.

Thanks, Phil. I agree with your thinking in going after those types of kws. Smart move. Hope you are keeping well.

Susan :-)

Thanks Susan. I am indeed. Too many people see "<10" in Jaaxy and conclude that they keyword isn't worth pursuing.

Great knowledge!

Thank you, Mo.
