Lasso Not Working - Yet
I had high hopes for the Lasso plugin as a solution to the Amazon issue of breaking the Image and Text+Image affiliate links.
Lasso has excellent reviews as an organizer of affiliate links in general.
Their support has been great though delayed because of the time zone issue.
They furnished me with a free registration that lasts until January 15, so that I could try it out on my demo site.
Here's what's happened so far:
As promised (threatened) by Amazon, all of the Image and Text+Image links broke on my demo site a few days into the new year.
Lasso has a bulk conversion, so I ran it.
It seemed to run fine, but when I checked the links, they were all still showing as broken.
When I checked with Lasso support, they said that it can take some time (measured in days!) for all the links on the site to convert.
Must admit I expected it to happen immediately.
The issue for me right now is that I can't try out any of the other solutions until I have the full story on Lasso.
I'll give it until Monday.

What Amazon has done seems almost criminal. The effect of seeing imageless pages, not only on your site, Phil, could reduce customers' future visits, let alone the current bounce rate.
Anyway, I look forward to you wrangling a solution to the problem.

I purchased Lasso this morning, Phil. There is a learning curve, but I managed to make some progress. It's powerful.
Yes, I agree. I believe something on my demo site is preventing it from converting my links properly, but I'm sure we'll get it sorted. I might spin up another demo site to experiment with other alternatives.

Amazon is not what it used to be. Somehow, this entire experience with broken links is a bit shoddy for lack of a better word.
I hope you get the help you need from Lasso soon. It's not cool having ɓlank spaces on your blog.

It's just being used as a demo site, so I'm not too fussed, but I imagine plenty of others are.
