First Day of Winter

First Day of Winter
It's the first day of Winter here, so I thought my Northern hemisphere friends might like to see what that means.
So after my morning sojourn into Wealthy Affiliate, I went for a riverside walk. I don't usually take my phone (I like to get away from it for a bit) but today I brought it to take some pics. Here they are:
The swimming pool from my balcony.
The swimming pool from ground level.
The river looking towards Noosa Heads, where it drains into the ocean.
Some hire boats and jet skis.
Looking in the other direction, towards the mountains.
A houseboat restaurant called (naturally) The Boathouse. They have a Sunset Cocktail Bar where you can watch the sun go down over the river while you sip on a drink.
A small group with some impromptu live music.
The Big Pelican (the real ones arrive in the late afternoon and evening to be fed).
Just another view.
A little bridge across a reach of the river.
Ferry.
This house is one narrow road across from the river.
With its own private jetty directly opposite.
The same house from the side. The outbuilding to the side is their boatshed.
Approaching the Noosa Marina. The jetty there is a popular fishing spot.
Marina signage.
What's inside.
Inside the marina, you can have a coffee, a drink and a meal while you watch the ferries arrive and depart.
That's my half way point. Now I turn around and walk back.
I hope you've enjoyed this little tour of some of my world.

Very nice part of the world. It has been many years since I was in Noosa and Noosa Heads. Last time I was there I was hiking through some forest in the hinterland.
After which I had a hamburger that was so good I remember it to this day. A Hawaiian burger with beetroot and bacon. Lol, I am not joking…would be 40 years ago…ish.
I think beetroot in hamburger might be uniquely Australian, Stephen. There's a hamburger joint in Hastings Street called Betty's Burgers and it's hugely popular.
That's great Phil! Summer all year here. It can be challenge to get things done with such beauty all around us! :-)

I'll admit these are some beautiful pictures of the pool, ocean and the scenery.
Thanks for the share, Phil!

I enjoyed the walk, Phil.
I lived in South Africa for 20 years so I can understand where you are coming from. I hated the winter there because no one had heat in their houses and it was freezing at night. But, on the coast, the winters were beautiful, just like in your pictures.
I imagine your "winter" is truly only 3 months of the year, which is a HUGE advantage over the north.
You live in a lovely area and there is lots of tranquility AND activity, it seems. You are blessed.
Thanks for your post.

Thanks for your comments, Corinne. Yes, our winter is June through August and everyone starts swimming again in September, though you can restart your suntan in August. Most places have reverse-cycle ait conditioning.
The river in particular can be very busy with water sports such as jet skiing and SUP.
