Amazon Affiliate Marketing
Amazon Affiliate Marketing
As you may know from my previous posts on this subject, Amazon has discontinued the very useful SiteStripe options of Image and Text+Image from December 1 and any affiliates using this code will find that the links stop working from December 31.
Here's my original blog post on this matter:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/phil1944/blog/has-amazon-really-done-this
I've been working on training to cover this but it's a slow process.
I've now published three:
The main thrust of these has been to set up Amazon affiliate links in one of my websites using the existing SiteStripe facilities of Image and Text+Image so that I can then do further training on how to replace them before they stop working.
Unfortunately (in my opinion) Wealthy Affiliate adds text created from the voiceover to training videos and, like all such, doesn't do it perfectly. I've asked Site Support if I can edit or delete it, but they don't seem to know.
So if you watch the videos, particularly video 3, please bear with me.
I'm planning the next training around the Lasso plugin.

Curious about whether these changes have affected Amazon's 'bottom line' and, if so, to what extent. My thinking is that, from Amazon's point of view, if eliminating the affiliate program doesn't make a dent in their profitability then our days of promoting Amazon products will be over I suspect.

I don't believe they are eliminating the affiliate program so much as culling non-performing affiliates. But it could be part of the long-term plan, of course.
Curious though...i have promoted other products where, if you didn't meet a minimum target, your account was cancelled. Yes that happened to me! :D
Well, that happens with Amazon too, but all you have to do is make 3 sales in 180 days, then you're in forever. That's why they have so many non-performing affiliates.
Thanks for putting this all together, Phil.
I am very impressed with Lasso’s customer service at the moment.
I signed up just before Black Friday and noticed afterwards they discontinued the yearly price, after being told they weren’t doing discounts due to the demand.
So, I messaged them about getting a discount as well and they gave it to me.
Great customer service!
They are still releasing their migration tool to their higher plan customers, but I was told it will all be done before December 31st for all yearly customers. It will be automatically done for us.

Good morning Phil,
Thank you for your various blog posts etc and training on the subject of Amazon affiliate marketing.
I'm fortunate that I don't really use the Amazon affiliate program. However, reading between the lines it appears to me that people really need to look for alternative affiliate programs. If Amazon is making it so difficult, do they really want their affiliates anyway?
I had an affiliate program change earlier this year, it hit me badly as their products suited my niche. It seems like some platforms are using affiliates to build their business and then shut them down once they have built their name up. I could be wrong.
Have a great day.

I think that could be a very accurate observation, Roy.
The sad part is that I think we need to remember who has helped us in our business! I'm sure many of Amazon's affiliates helped to magnify the name Amazon! They really ought to remember that!
Roy
Not how big corporations work, unfortunately.
Yes, I hear you, big time, Phil! They think very differently to how we think. I just think it's good to remember those who have helped us over the years.
I have a customer with whom I have worked for about 36 years, I was thinking of leaving, but he wouldn't let me! However, he has been really good to me over the years and still is! I'm glad I'm still doing his job!
Roy
Personal relationships are the glue that holds small business together.
I agree with that, Phil, very true indeed!

a modern-day Ebeneezer Scrooge...affiliates?...bah...humbug
Well, 'tis the season for it.
