What Happened to me? Why did I quit?
Hello WA Family,
Today I wanted to tell ya'll part of my story. Hopefully, this will help you not make the same mistake I did. When I started with Wealthy Affiliate I was totally on fire ready to become financially free. I had finally found the perfect place to help me do that. Then something happened. I quit. why?
Quitting is easy. It is much harder to keep going.
Doubt started creeping in. Mainly because I stopped actively pursuing the lessons here I thought I had all the info I needed. I was writing lots of SEO-rich content but still wasn't getting ranked. I had no idea why my 1000 word review was getting ranked lower than some 600 word review that really didn't look as good as mine. It was all so discouraging so instead of coming back here and trying to find out why. I lost my fire and just stopped writing. You see it was easier to just tell myself I couldn't do it. That I didn't have that special ingredient to make me good at this. Rather than trying to sift through and push forward to make it work.
Change your mindset.
I am always baffled at my own dumbness sometimes. I wrote an entire article on my blog about how in order to succeed you need to change your mindset. Not just believe you CAN succeed but KNOW you WILL succeed. Yet when the chips were down and I needed to reinforce that mindset in myself I didn't.
So, what finally made me come back?
I realized something very important... Why I was doing this in the first place. I looked into my son's eyes when I had to tell him we couldn't go to a comic con so he could meet one of his favorite stars because we couldn't afford it. That did it. I remembered that I want to achieve success so I can give my kids all the experiences they want, and more.
Find your motivation...
I realized that success or failure is not about whether person A is doing better than person B it is about if person A has achieved his goal. Success is different for everyone. We each need to find that motivation inside us that will keep us pushing forward no matter what obstacles jump in our path.
Don't follow my example. Follow my advice.
Us parents always try to tell our kids to 'Do as I say. Not as I do'. Why? Because we want our children to avoid the mistakes we made. This is kind of the same thing. If you are getting discouraged don't do the easy thing and quit. Remind yourself of what is motivating you. Great post. I did the same thing, I quit. But now I'm back. I started strong but I am currently at a standstill. Life keeps interfering. But I will work through it. Thank you for the reminder. I needed it.
We all to to be reminded sometimes and encouraged. One thing I hve finally figured out is that I don't need some special skill that noone else has I just have to put in the work and do what the training here says to do and I will succeed

It really is amazing how powerful the mind is. It is the mind that truely makes or breaks our success. Taking control of your mind is the key.
Yes, I totally agree Patrick - it's our most important tool and can achieve great things if sharpened in the right way

It's very easy to quit Patrick. Sometimes however, we don't realise that we are moments from success. It's always been my philosophy that if something isn't working I need analyse it and find out why.

you are so right. I could have been one step away from finally unlocking the secret and by quitting I lost that opportunity. Now I have to get back there.
