About DValentine
Joined September 2017
Hi there, my name is Dom and I live in the UK. I've been online for around 5 years and I've dabbled in Internet marketing with no results.
The reason for my non-success is mainly down to a combination of 'fear of failure' and Shiny Object Syndrome. I get so far then I think "No, this won't work" or "I can't do this" and I stop and then restart with the next 'system', 'blueprint' or 'easy method' that catches my eye.
This is where that self-destructive behavior stops. I am a success and I am a successful online entrepreneur from now forwards.
The date is now November 2017 and I have 2 websites running - anticipate first income by March 2018 - could be earlier (and will with any luck!)

Update - January 2018
OK, so after 3 ncihe attempts and an attempt at the Affiliate Bootcamp; I've decided to go back to the Green Button and start again as the niches I originally chose I had no engagment with and got bored of them very quickly.
I had a 3 day break from WA and thought about what I really wanted to do. I made a decision and now I'm back and pumped with the expectation of totally finishing the Online Creditation Course.
Then and only then will I have had enough experience to promote WA and, as I have committed to going to Vegas in September of this year I need to yank my finger out and knuckle down.
Hopefully we'll make contact and speak of our journeys later
Thanks for listening

2nd Update - 21st March 2018
It's been 6 months since I joined WA and I've nothing to show. That's not the fault of the 'system' but more a failing in me. My inability to finish what I start has been clearly shown in the last 6 months.
So, this update is going to be my promise to myself -

"Start and finish whichever platform you want to begin - without stopping or leaving the WA arena (unless told to in the training). Once success has been achieved, then return and update this profile"

That's my promise to myself - I'll see you back here once success has been acheived.

Hi Dom,

Thanks for following :)

I had the same syndrome that you experienced. I've failed fourfold, I'm in the affiliate marketing industry since 2016 but made no money at all.

The reasons remain the same as yours.

But like you said, I have made a promise to myself not quit. Be consistent and follow what is been told by the trainers here at Wealthy Affiliate.

I'm 100% sure that success will come to me and you too.

I wish you more success online. Stay blessed.

Hi Dom,
Thanks for the follow and returned! Yes it is so easy isn’t it to give up, give in, whatever.
I have chosen a niche that I love, but quite competitive really, who doesn’t enjoy a great cup of tea!
Well I shall keep going only because I seem to have put lot’s of time into it and I’ll see where it goes and it’s still young!
I feel that’s the best way forward at the moment and at the same time try be open minded, I shall keep searching reviewing and finding other possibilities, you should too!

I saw a post from WA member that says - promise myself that I won't give up - and it will boost up my mind to the road to success.

Dom, "Shiny object syndrome" is not uncommon to people in internet marketing. But, you will find many of such people highly highly successful at later stage. Trying so many things just to find that most of them don't work is kind of making it half way through. Legends are there that Edison had discovered 999 ways which didn't work before inventing an electric bulb. So what, failures are not final and they are stepping stones at their best.

GOOD luck, cheers!!

Hi Dom, and thanks for the follow.
Unfortunately I can relate to your bio. I am ADHD and the "shiny thing" comment has been the story of my life. I am hell bent and determined to take my time, and stick with the WA training. Picking 1 niche was the hardest thing I have done lately, maybe ever. Now that I have finally decided on something I'm going to go for it, and see how far it goes. lol
I am sending you positive thoughts, and hope this is the one for you. Hopefully this time next year we can celebrate our success together.

The problem is that no matter where you go you still seem to have the same mind set. Failure. This is not an easy assignment. Nothing worth having comes easy. When you change your mind then you will succeed. As I have heard it is better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. I am going to keep reaching for the gold ring. It is getting closer.

It's so nice to meet you DValentine. Know what? I'm only a few minutes old at WA. And why am I here? Same as you said in one of your posts, I'm jumping from one program to another Lol 2years of 'program hopping' is surely a long time. I see others making money in these programs, yet I'm always on the move.
Thanks to your post, I think I'm now sensible enough to stay here and make this work.

Hi, Dom-
Hope that all is going well with you.
Thanks for the follow. Maybe the following little ditty sounds trite but I learned it when I was training to sell life insurance. It's gotten me through some frustrating situations. Maybe it will help you, too.
It goes, "Yard by yard, life is hard but inch by inch, it's a cinch". Take any project one inch at a time. Don't try to do it all at once. Most people can handle little bits of a project. But, if you do just a little at a time, one day you've gotten the big project done.
All the best,
Mike

Hi Dom following you now also, all my life I've had moments where I gave up mostly learning how to play a musical instrument ha ha .
Other than that I usually stick to something till I finish but you have to have the desire .
I have a client and friend who is quite rich, he just retired with quite a few million dollars.
This guy when he was young worked in one of his fathers 3 shoe stores, he was the top salesman, then he went to university and became a agricultural engineered and excelled , then he took up pottery and taught pottery for 10 years and had a very good business, then he took he got educated being a speach therapist where he met his wife and had 2 great kids and ran there business from home with a large clientele and then they both took up guitar and started a band because they were that good and they do gigs around town.
Some people just have the desire and ability to do almost anything when they put their minds to it .
You just have to find that thing that clicks with you and focus !
There is a wa man who has a course he gives after you pass level 3 and he has been very successful and has even sold his web site and started 2 more that are making good money.
I will look up his name and get back to u I want to follow his method also all the best!!!

Hi Dom,

Thanks for the follow. Don't feel bad because many folks go through the same thing you are. It's not important that you fall; it's important that you get back up and start again.

Everyone reaches their success at different times; some within 3 months, some within 6 month, some within 2 years, and still some take even longer.

This business is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes a lot of time and hard work. Along with that you need a lot of determination, motivation and most of all patience. It doesn't matter how long it take you to get somewhere, only that you get there.

Wishing you much success in meeting your goals as you journey through WA.

Hi Dom, nice to meet you!

Don't feel glum about your past experiments with business. Nothing you've learned is ever truly lost. Some pretty successful online business people can claim a few learning phases and periods of experimentation and failure as part of their growth.

There is an article here on WA that I really must recommend you as part of your own growth, by Marion Black. It's about leaving behind your consumer mentality. I think falling for shiny things is easier if you're stuck in that mindset. Do look it up, if you haven't read it already.

Hi Dom

Thanks for the connection, great to meet you, I suggest to just simply start with the certification training,

Take it a small step at a time, create a pace that suits you, and do a little WA everyday, even if it is just an hour per day, and increase as the need arises,

You will see progress and consistency taking shape in a matter of days.

It is important to set goals, even if it is just a small little one, achieve it and move on to the next goal, grow your goals as time progresses, and success will not be far behind.

All the best Dom, looking forward to further contact.

Hi DValentine, and a big welcome to the WA Community! Thanks for the follow!

Now that you have established your business goals, it's now time to hit the ground running! Stay focused, determined and motivated.

Don't hesitate to reach for help--I sure did. I also used the search bar at the top of each page where you will find articles, blogs, and videos to complete any task. I am now into week four; and on day 7 I ranked #1 and page 1 on Google.

I just flew in from Maryland to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida--so getting everything prepared for Hurricane Irma and getting responses out while I can before any power goes out this weekend!

I believe Wealthy Affiliate has the best training modules on the planet; so never, ever give up! You can achieve to succeed!

All the best in not only meeting, but exceeding your business goals!

Phildora!
My humble apologies for finding this message of yours only a year late!
Thank you for it as I've had a few stumbles on the way and quite a few stop and starts - but I now believe that 2019 is the year I shine.
I hope Year 1 gave you all WA could and more.
Here's to an excellent 2019!

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Kyle - actually I'm going to promote WA on my own website, so I will be leaving the Get Started Course and migrating to the Affiliate Bootcamp

Thanks Jason, I certainly intend to fulfill my goals although I'm sure that may change over time but we'll see. See you around and thanks for the connect.
