Hospital emergency room
This morning my wife woke up feeling pretty good. We sat around doing our regular routine. She normally sorts her vitamins, minerals and Rx drugs in individual cups to take throughout the day.
Not looking good
Before she even got through one of the cups she slumps over the couch, where she had been sitting. She started mumbling something and was out for a minute or less. Whenever an incident like this happens it seems like an eternity. I got really scared and call 911.
Emergency Arrives
The emergency personnel arrived, one group in an ambulance the other in a fire truck. That is how they respond here in Florida where we live. Immediately they have all sorts of questions and I have prepared a list of medications she takes as well as a list of her allergies. She has a large list of allergies so we are sure to keep the lists handy in the event of an emergency. She also has a bag to take in case she has to go to the hospital.
During this time one of the medics has been taking her vitals which appear to be fine. But her blood pressure is low 103/60. That is low for her and probably why she passed out. They ask if she has had any recent conditions that might have cause this? No other than a week x-ray she went to urgent care for a congestion, just to be checked out. They tell us that if she wants to go the hospital they are happy to take her. It's her choice. I have been hoping for her to be checked out further so she agrees freely. Normally she hates going to the hospital or see a doctor.
To The Hospital She Goes
She arrives at the ER via ambulance so she is assigned a room right away. Not to many patients this morning. I have followed in my vehicle with her bag and purse. She normally takes her own medication because she takes medication around the clock. Some nurses do not want to take the time to follow her scheduled so, she has informed her doctors that she will bring her own medications.
She sees a doctor and he orders blood work, EKG, brain scan and chest x-ray. After we received the results come back the doctor diagnosis is dehydration.
Diagnosis Dehydration Drink Lots of Water
The doctor IV fluid solution to get her hydrated. All the other test show good results. Although, blood pressure is still high. She suffers from uncontrollable blood pressure. We were surprised because she has been staying indoors all summer long. She drinks a lot of fluids (tea, coffee, and a potassium mixed with water) but not enough plain water. The tea is a natural diuretic so she was aggravating the situation. The nurse told us we need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Thats a lot of water, maybe not 8 glass but stay hydrated whether indoors or outdoors. So after 5 hours at the ER we are back home not resting but on the computer. After tried to tell you wife to rest?

Good to hear that it wasn't a bigger issue, We pray for your wife's speedy recovery and God's blessings upon you and your family.
OMG, what you must have gone through! But you acted quickly and efficiently. Thank goodness this can be alleviated with water.
Please tell your wife we want to see more photos of her in fancy cars, so feel better soon. She is so cute!
Try to relax now this evening...with a big glass of water!

Happy to hear it was nothing serious. I know it's hard to get someone to drink enough water, I go through it with my husband all the time. We've been stuck in a humid spell all summer, and he's been doing a lot of projects outside, in the heat, humidity and direct sunlight.
Maybe invest in some fun water bottles that will help her keep track of her water intake?
