This Weather Sucks, (Are your priorities in order?)

Winter has failed us miserably in these here parts. I can't remember the last time I saw an ugly and dreary day. I couldn't tell you when the last time it rained was, or the last time I wore a long sleeved shirt, or long pants and shoes with socks. I haven't felt a chill on the back of my neck or seen my own breath when I exhale, in I don't know how long.

Am I complaining? Yes I am. Am I tired of endless perfect sunny 80 degree days? Yes, very tired. Do I live in Southern California? Yes, and the truth is I love it. My problem is, that perfect weather is not compatible with working indoors sitting behind a computer all day, at least not for me.

So how am I supposed to get any work done, much less get anything else done? I work so much better when it's raining, cold, or ugly outside. I know I'm not missing out on anything, so I concentrate on work. Things to write about come easier.

The bottom line is that you have to have your priorities in order because if you don't, you are pretty much guarantied to fail. I know this because it was happening to me. The good thing is, I was able to acknowledge the problem and address it promptly.

I wrote a list rearranging my priorities in the obvious proper order, made a commitment to be more disciplined, and planned out my schedule allotting time for other activities other than just work. So far I'm sticking to it, and I think it's working.

It sucks living in an all around best climate in the world, NOT!

Sounds like you have lots of alternatives where you can work and get stuff done, Fernando! You do realize you made some enemies with this post, right? LOL Just kidding. Wish I had some of your perfect weather. ;-)

Move to Canada, plenty of "good" work days here, lol

Or at the other end of the scale, I'm inside because it's too hot to go out! 41º (106ºF) outside at the moment.

I would love to have this problem! :) But...what you need is a laptop. And a deck (or a park, patio, outdoor coffee shop). Sit yourself outside in the sunshine and get to work. I love to do that in the summer!

That's a great idea. I've actually tried that where I'm living but it's too bright out and I can't see the screen very well. I'm thinking of putting up a cover, kind of like those canopies you use for the beach.

@karyskis, yeah, you're probably right ;)

Come to Michigan. You'll get a lot accomplished. ;)

I don't know, I might be surfing Lake Michigan and not work as much as I should.

Not in sub below zero weather and ice ;)

Move to Maine or North Dakota! I like it her in Sacramento…..

At least you guys get some rain and cooler temps up there. You've been quite lucky this year though.

You should come to northerm MN for a couple days to cool off!
Nice work rearranging things, I understand the troubles when the weather is nice. Luckily I haven't has that problem recently due to our "beautiful" winter ;)

I hear you.

No one likes you anymore after reading this post! Ha ha... at least not anyone here in the midwest, I'm still waiting for the 15 in of snow we got last week to be completely melted. :)

I really wish we had a season like that here, a short one anyway. Perfect weather gets old after a while.

Our snow doesn't melt till about April. All we are getting now is MORE snow

Perhaps you need to take a working vacation to the cold and snowy north. Become trapped inside because it is too cold outside to venture out and the roads are covered in ice. While being trapped force yourself to work hard so that when your working vacation is over you can go back to sunny California and enjoy the outdoors. I am working hard this winter so I can enjoy the warmth of summer outdoors.

I would love that. I think I would be more productive.
